Job Description

SAIC is seeking a Training - SME & Systems Engineer. The Training Subject Matter Expert (SME) & Systems Engineer will support the training team to design, develop, and deliver technical training that prepares operators and analysts for mission-critical work. In this role, you will work closely with instructors, curriculum developers, and mission leadership to ensure course materials reflect current trade-craft, tools, and operational practices. As a technical authority, you will provide instruction, coaching, and hands-on support to students and junior personnel within training environments. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining training pipelines, qualification standards, and exercises that keep the workforce ready for evolving missions in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.

This position is located in Columbia, MD and requires an active TS/SCI with active polygraph.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop technical training curriculum, course materials, and hands-on exercises for the training team.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to instruct, coach, and mentor students and junior personnel.
  • Develop and review Job Qualification Standards (JQS) and Technique Qualification Standards (TQS) to ensure training aligns with mission requirements.
  • Create and maintain training pipelines with measurable milestones and timeline adherence.
  • Provide systems engineering expertise and technical documentation support to the training team and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
  • Deep knowledge of CNE/CNO operations and Cyber mission trade-craft.
  • Proven experience developing and delivering technical training and instructional materials.
  • Direct experience developing or reviewing Job Qualification Standards (JQS) and Technique Qualification Standards (TQS).
  • Strong experience with operating systems and networking concepts, including security, design, and troubleshooting.

Desired:

  • Experience setting up or managing training environments using VMware/ESXi, Proxmox, or KVM.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate environment provisioning or grading.
