The Opportunity
Our client is a distinguished, highly discreet strategic private office and boutique advisory firm founded by a renowned pioneer of the APAC corporate recovery and restructuring market.
Operating under a philosophy akin to the elite traditional merchant banks of 20 to 30 years ago, this firm completely eschews rigid institutional playbooks and corporate bureaucracy. Instead, they focus on delivering bespoke financial engineering, tactical credit advisory, and sophisticated special-situations problem-solving for an exclusive international roster of corporate clients, high-net-worth families, institutional investors, and sovereign entities.
They are seeking a sharp, highly analytical Associate / Senior Associate to join their nimble team in Central, Hong Kong. If you are currently feeling constrained within a siloed corporate advisory or accounting environment and want to transition into a true generalist, high-finance advisory role, this opportunity offers direct mentorship under industry titans and unprecedented exposure to complex, multi-jurisdictional matters.
The Role
In this dynamic position, you will provide critical analytical and strategic support across an extraordinarily diverse portfolio of high-stakes engagements. Working directly alongside senior advisors and the founding partner, you will be expected to rapidly assimilate dense financial data, draw commercially sharp conclusions, and draft executive-level findings under tight timeframes.
Your daily remit will span:
- Supporting all active phases of complex corporate recoveries, workouts, and insolvency mandates.
- Assisting with deep-dive financial investigations, including gathering, dissecting, and organising complex financial evidence.
- Performing comprehensive financial statement analysis, interpreting intricate datasets, and supporting valuation models.
- Delivering critical data, strategic problem-solving, and actionable insights to support high-value litigation, funding claims, and expert evidence assignments.
- Conducting rigorous research into industry trends, regulatory shifts, and broader macroeconomic factors impacting client files.
- Preparing high-quality reports, board presentations, and formal correspondence with exceptional clarity, conciseness, and precision.
Your Profile
This role is ideally suited to a self-starting professional with approximately 2 to 5 years of experience (ideally 2 to 3 years) within a Big 4 or top-tier boutique advisory firm spanning corporate restructuring, insolvency, forensic accounting, or transaction advisory services.
Requirements & Attributes:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. Progression towards a CA, CPA, or CFA is highly regarded.
- A bulletproof foundational knowledge of accounting principles and a proven track record in financial statement analysis.
- Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with a knack for translating complex financial findings into crystal-clear executive commentary.
- An agile mindset capable of thriving in high-urgency, ambiguous environments, combined with absolute discretion, common sense, and high emotional intelligence when handling sensitive client files.
