Job Title: General Manager Company: Teletask Location: US, Remote Employment Type : Full-time

About Teletask

Teletask powers public sector communication. Government and public health agencies use our automated text, voice and email outreach, two-way texting and digital workflows (surveys, e-signature, scheduling) to reach the families they serve. Our largest footprint is WIC (Women, Infants & Children) nutrition programs, where Teletask messaging drives appointment attendance for over 6 million participants across 38 US states, with more than 100 million messages sent each year.

Teletask is part of Solen Software Group, which acquires and holds vertical market software businesses for the long term. The business is now at an inflection point and looking for a General Manager who will lead its next chapter of growth and build the commercial engine, team, and operating infrastructure to match the product.

The Opportunity

This is a general-manager role for someone who knows the industry from the inside. You will own the business's P&L, its growth, its product direction, its most important customer relationships, and its team, reporting to a Solen Portfolio Leader or Operating Partner and working within Solen's business systems and targets.

What You Will Own

Business Performance

  • Own the full P&L: revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, net revenue retention and cash.
  • Run a monthly operating cadence (KPIs, forecast vs. plan, actions) and report it to your Solen Portfolio Leader.
  • Move the business up a Business Health Score (BHS) tier and improve its Rule of 40 through deliberate trade-offs between growth and profitability.
  • Deliver the business's EBITDA growth as its contribution to Solen's Yearly Operations Goal (YOG), our portfolio-wide EBITDA growth target.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting with ROI discipline on every initiative and hire.

Organic & Inorganic Growth

  • Grow ARR at a double-digit rate every year through new logos, expansion, pricing and retention.
  • Own the pipeline from first contact to signed agreement across agency directors, state IT and operations leaders, and procurement officers.
  • Build the sales playbook: ICP, outreach, discovery, proposal framework and RFP responses, with a repeatable path from local agency to statewide contract.
  • Own pricing: re-evaluate customer usage, then set packaging, contract terms and price increases on the existing customer base.
  • Cut churn by finding at-risk accounts early and running retention plays.
  • Map the acquirable companies in the industry; source and qualify add-on targets and support integration.

Industry Vision & Product Roadmap

  • Own a 1–3 year thesis on where the industry is heading: regulation, workflows, buyers and technology.
  • Turn the thesis and customer needs into a roadmap ranked by ROI and by development effort vs. time-to-market.
  • Partner with product and engineering leads on delivery; find adjacent workflows the business can serve.

Customer & Market Leadership

  • Personally own executive relationships with the top accounts, including renewals, escalations and major expansions.
  • Hold growth, NRR and logo-retention targets.
  • Coordinate client services, onboarding and product so customers adopt more and expand.
  • Represent the business at WIC, public health and government technology conferences and associations to build brand and pipeline; work with Solen Marketing on materials and web presence.

Team, AI Leverage & Value Creation Plan

  • Lead a team of 5–10. Hire, develop and, where needed, replace people so that 90%+ of key seats are held by A players, and build the documentation and cross-training that keep the business running through any leadership change.
  • Drive AI adoption across every function and build revenue-generating AI capabilities into the product.
  • Own and deliver the multi-year value creation plan (VCP) that drives the business's contribution to the YOG.

Who You Are

  • Hands-on industry operator. Real depth in the industry; equally comfortable in a strategy session, a customer escalation and a roadmap trade-off.
  • Player-coach. Gets outsized output from a small team through systems, not headcount.
  • Commercially credible. Sells, retains and expands accounts personally.
  • Numbers-driven owner. Applies ROI discipline to every roadmap item, initiative and hire, and thinks in years, not quarters.
  • Principled. Lives the Solen-isms and the Solen Principles of Transformation, and runs the business on Solen's business systems.

Requires Qialifications

  • 8+ years in operations, sales, business development or general management, including 5+ years in the industry or selling into it.
  • Fluent in how government health and human services programs operate, who buys, and how they are funded.
  • Has owned a P&L or a functional budget and can speak to its figures and the monthly metrics they reported.
  • Documented multi-year revenue growth that they personally owned, with before and after numbers.
  • Has personally closed and expanded major accounts; can provide customer references in the vertical.
  • Has hired and, where needed, replaced direct reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience buying or selling B2B software to customers in the industry.
  • Has led price increases, packaging changes, churn reduction or product repositioning.
  • Has sourced, diligenced or integrated an acquisition.
  • Visible in the industry through speaking, associations, analyst relationships or a recognized network.
  • Has built and delivered a multi-year operating or value creation plan with stated targets.
  • Has deployed AI in a business function or product.
  • Understands how state and local health department procurement works: RFPs, statewide contracts and reseller channels.

What Success Looks Like

First 90 days

  • Meet the top state and local agency accounts, take over founder-held relationships, and surface upsell opportunities and at-risk accounts.
  • Map the customer base by program (statewide WIC, local WIC, public health, other), usage, price per participant, expansion potential and risk.
  • Learn the P&L and set up the monthly operating cadence.
  • Assess the team against key seats, name any gaps, and identify processes that depend on a single person.
  • Build the first outbound sales playbook: ICP, outreach, discovery questions and proposal framework, starting with WIC states not yet served.
  • Draft the first industry thesis and a shortlist of AI opportunities, building on the AI features already in the product.

First 12 months

  • ARR growing at double digits, in line with the VCP target, with new states won and local agencies converted to statewide contracts.
  • BHS tier improved and EBITDA contribution to the YOG on track.
  • A usage-based pricing strategy agreed with your Portfolio Leader and applied at renewals.
  • An ROI-ranked roadmap in delivery.
  • Key seats held by A players, with onboarding materials and documented processes so no critical function depends on one person.
  • An outbound sales motion in place alongside a qualified list of add-on targets.
  • Value creation plan agreed and on track.

Who You Will Work With

You run the business day to day and report to a Solen Portfolio Leader or Operating Partner. You have real decision rights, exercised within Solen's business systems and against the targets agreed with your Portfolio Leader (BHS, YOG and the VCP). You will see the company's financials, product strategy and customer relationships from day one. You will lead a team of 5–10 across sales, client services, product and operations and work closely with product and engineering leads. You will also draw on Solen's functional leads in marketing, pricing, finance, talent and AI.

What We Offer

  • Ownership of a profitable software business and its P&L from day one, accountable to your Portfolio Leader.
  • Autonomy to build the commercial engine, the processes and the team, within Solen's business systems and targets.
  • A long-term horizon: Solen buys and holds, so there is no forced exit.
  • Direct coaching from your Portfolio Leader, plus access to the portfolio, best-practice guilds and functional leads across vertical software.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
