Job Description

Trinity College is seeking dependable and safety-minded individuals to join our transportation team as a Campus Shuttle Driver. This role supports the campus community by providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation for students. This is a part-time position with benefits.

Schedule & Hours • Monday – Friday: 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. • Hours: May vary based on campus needs, special events, and the academic calendar. • Additional Hours: Occasional weekend or special-event hours may be available as needed.

The anticipated annual base salary hiring range for this position is $16.94 to $19.38 (midpoint) per year, with final placement determined by experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Safe Transportation: Operate College shuttle vehicles, including 7-passenger mini-vans and 12-passenger transit vans, safely and in compliance with traffic laws and College policies.
  • Shuttle Services: Operate College shuttle vehicles, including 7-passenger mini-vans and 12-passenger transit vans, safely and in compliance with traffic laws and College policies.
  • Local Knowledge: Demonstrate knowledge of the Hartford area within approximately a 2–3 mile radius to determine safe and efficient routes and assist with directions when needed.
  • Vehicle Inspections: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking lights, tires, fluid levels, and overall vehicle condition.
  • Passenger Safety: Ensure passengers follow safety protocols, including seatbelt use and vehicle capacity limits.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate mileage logs and promptly report mechanical issues, damage, or incidents to the appropriate supervisor and Campus Safety.
  • Customer Service: Provide professional, courteous, and respectful service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or GED
  • License: Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License (Class D/Standard). If operating a 12 passenger van a F endorsement is needed.
  • Driving Record: Must have a clean driving record with no moving violations within the past three years.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of licensed driving experience is preferred.
  • Local Area Knowledge: Familiarity with the Hartford area within approximately a 2–3 mile radius is required.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills and a professional, service-oriented demeanor when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Dependability: Reliable attendance and ability to follow schedules and directions.
  • Physical: Ability to sit for extended periods as needed.
