The posting

Unusual Machines is a U.S.-based drone and drone parts company focused on the small and First-Person View (FPV) segments of the drone market. Our brands - Rotor Riot, Fat Shark, Rotor Lab and - coming soon - Upgrade Energy - are some of the most respected names in FPV and have helped shape the industry through e-commerce, product development, and a deep connection with the pilot community.

We’re expanding into enterprise and defense - bringing our obsessive attention to performance, design, and U.S.-based manufacturing into high-stakes environments like search and rescue and military innovation. With several of our products already approved by the Defense Innovation Unit, we’re solving procurement issues for customers who demand speed, agility, and compliance.

If you love working at the intersection of community, content, and cutting-edge technology, you’ll feel right at home here.

You in This Role

As the Safety & Security Officer, you will be responsible for supporting workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and physical security across our manufacturing facilities. This is a hands-on role focused on creating a safe and secure environment for our employees, visitors, contractors, facilities, and company assets.

The ideal candidate will have experience in workplace safety and physical security, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment. You will maintain a visible presence throughout our facilities, proactively identify potential risks, ensure employees and facilities are prepared for emergencies, and help build a strong culture of safety across the organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, implement, and maintain company safety and security policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct regular facility walkthroughs and safety and security inspections to identify hazards, risks, and areas requiring corrective action.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness and response programs, including evacuation procedures, fire prevention, severe weather, emergency drills, and other response protocols.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain first aid kits, AEDs, and other emergency and safety equipment to ensure they are operational, accessible, properly stocked, and up to date.
  • Establish and maintain a network of First Aid Captains across facilities and shifts and coordinate CPR, First Aid, and AED training and certifications.
  • Develop and deliver safety orientations and employee training covering PPE, emergency procedures, workplace safety, and security protocols.
  • Partner with HR, Facilities, and Production to investigate workplace incidents and accidents, conduct root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain appropriate records related to safety inspections, incidents, training, certifications, emergency drills, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor CCTV cameras and review or extract video when required for authorized security or incident investigations.
  • Follow established protocols for security breaches and emergency situations and coordinate with police, fire, ambulance, and other emergency services as needed.
  • Assist with the de-escalation of tense or potentially volatile situations and help ensure the safety of employees and others.
  • Support compliance with applicable OSHA requirements, safe working procedures, and company SOPs.
  • Build strong relationships with employees and leaders and promote a proactive culture of safety and security throughout the organization.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3–5 years of experience in workplace safety, physical security, security operations, law enforcement, military service, or a related field.
  • Manufacturing, production, warehouse, or industrial experience strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices, OSHA standards, emergency response, physical security, access control, and surveillance systems.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, security assessments, or risk assessments.
  • Ability to effectively train employees on workplace safety and emergency procedures.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification preferred or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred or ability to obtain after hire. Instructor certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly walk throughout manufacturing facilities and perform routine safety and security inspections.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs, bend, and kneel as needed.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while wearing required PPE.
  • Flexibility to occasionally support safety training, emergency drills, or incidents across multiple shifts.

Compensation

$60,000–$70,000 annually

Benefits

  • 401(k)

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
