Job Description
The Mechanic I supports maintenance operations by performing mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs. Assists mechanics, electricians, and mobile technicians in maintaining plant machinery, equipment, and facilities to meet production needs in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex mechanical repairs and equipment overhauls.
- Diagnose root causes of recurring equipment failures and develop corrective actions.
- Coordinate with engineering and maintenance planning teams.
- Provide technical expertise during shutdowns and capital projects.
- Mentor mechanics across multiple shifts.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- 7–10 years of mechanical maintenance experience.
- Expert knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience preferred.
- Welding and machining certifications preferred.
- High level of safety and quality awareness.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work outdoors in all seasons.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work from elevated platforms.
- Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, hammers, and wrenches.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work the required schedule. Primary schedule is 6 AM - 2 PM with rotating on-calls for nights and weekends.
