The Financial Controller will own the monthly close, accounting accuracy and preparation of the company’s financial statements.

The role will consolidate revenue and gross profit data provided by the Revenue & Gross Profit Manager with operating expenses, payroll and other corporate costs to produce a complete and reliable view of the company’s financial performance.

The role reports to the Finance Director and supervises the Finance Operations / AP & Treasury Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review accounting cutoff and ensure transactions are recognized in the correct period.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and resolve aged or unexplained balances.
  • Oversee AP, AR, bank reconciliations and payment operations.
  • Review payment registers and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate payroll accounting, tax filings, statutory reporting and audit requests.
  • Prepare monthly management reporting and explain material actual variances.
  • Maintain accounting policies, reporting definitions and internal financial controls.
  • Improve and automate accounting, reconciliation and reporting processes.

Candidate Requirements

  • 6–10 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting or financial control.
  • At least 3 years in an Accounting Manager, Reporting Manager, Financial Controller or similar role.
  • Strong experience preparing P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
  • Strong knowledge of monthly close, accruals, cutoff, reconciliations and balance sheet control.
  • Experience with AP, AR, payroll accounting, taxes and payment controls.
  • Experience reconciling operational systems or subledgers to the general ledger.
  • Experience supervising accounting or finance operations staff.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems and reporting tools.
  • Strong ownership, attention to detail and ability to challenge unsupported financial data.
  • Strong written and verbal English.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in travel, marketplace, e-commerce, payments, hospitality or another transaction-based business.
  • Experience with supplier liabilities, customer receivables, refunds and payment processors.
  • ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent qualification is preferred but not mandatory.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
