Job Description

Job Summary

The Carbon Reduction Sustainability Specialist supports execution of Weatherford’s Net Zero Emissions by 2050 roadmap by partnering with facility, real estate, HSE, operations, sustainability, and business leaders to identify, evaluate, implement, and track carbon, energy, resource, waste, and broader environmental improvement opportunities. The role strengthens climate data, disclosures, governance, and business cases; supports customers’ climate goals; and promotes safe, ethical, compliant, and auditable practices across the organization.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and implement climate and carbon reduction opportunities using recognized methodologies, including the GHG Protocol, IPIECA, ISO, SBTi, and related frameworks.
  • Develop practical processes, standards, guidance, and measurable KPIs for facility and operational emissions reduction, energy efficiency, resource consumption, waste management, and environmental stewardship.
  • Assess facility energy profiles, operating loads, and improvement opportunities; build repeatable business cases using cost, ROI, payback, carbon, and operational impact analyses.
  • Recommend improvements to data collection, calculation, controls, systems, and reporting methods.
  • Support annual sustainability and customer reporting by coordinating data collection and preparing or editing environmental and climate-related disclosures.
  • Monitor regulatory, framework, market, and technical developments; benchmark GHG accounting and carbon reduction practices and translate relevant changes into program improvements.
  • Manage or support project plans, budgets, schedules, actions, resources, contractors, and performance tracking through completion.
  • Prepare progress updates and recommendations for Sustainability leadership, Carbon Committees, operational teams, and executive stakeholders.
  • Coach location and functional stakeholders; develop and deliver communications and training that build environmental awareness, capability, and accountability.
  • Collaborate with HSE, Quality, Security, Compliance, Finance, Real Estate, manufacturing, and operations to align requirements and protect safety, service quality, governance, and compliance.
  • Apply Company policies, laws, standards, and industry practices; support continuous improvement of the management system and exercise Stop Work Authority when required.

Skills and Education

Required

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-5 years of relevant sustainability experience, preferably focused on energy or carbon reduction projects.
  • Experience leading carbon footprint reduction initiatives, including facility energy analysis, net-zero roadmapping, emissions reduction, and data collection strategies.
  • Working knowledge of environmental reporting and calculation frameworks, such as the GHG Protocol, GRI, SBTi, ISO, and related methodologies.
  • Experience developing business cases using cost analysis, ROI, and payback periods and connecting climate reductions to business value.
  • Ability to independently manage complex projects, coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, and brief senior leadership.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, critical-thinking, project management, facilitation, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented approach to reviewing technical information and maintaining accurate, auditable data.
  • Ability to collaborate across cultures and functions, influence without direct authority, manage multiple priorities, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft 365 and project management tools.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally approximately 20-40%; valid driver’s license when driving on Company business.

Preferred

  • Green building certification or experience, such as LEED Green Associate or sustainable building design.
  • Knowledge of building design, HVAC, and electrical system enhancements as they relate to environmental performance.
  • Experience selecting, implementing, or using GHG, life cycle inventory, or life cycle assessment software.
  • Experience developing sustainability programs, training, external environmental or sustainability reports, or assurance support.
  • Experience reviewing or developing sustainability provisions in supplier contracts, building leases, or green lease negotiations.
  • Understanding of emissions offset strategies and an established network of environmental professionals.
  • Proficiency in a second language (Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
