We are seeking a hands-on Chartered Accountant with 7–10 years of post-qualification experience to manage accounting, financial reporting, revenue operations, and statutory compliance for Indian and US entities. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Indian taxation, exposure to US GAAP, and experience managing cross-border accounting and intercompany transactions.

This role requires end-to-end ownership of the finance function, from day-to-day bookkeeping and monthly close to revenue recognition, management reporting, tax compliance, and investor due diligence. The candidate should be comfortable working in a lean team, collaborating with multiple departments, and communicating directly with international clients.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

1. Bookkeeping and Financial Close — India and US

  • Manage day-to-day accounting for Indian and US entities using accounting software such as Zoho Books, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense classification, accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets.
  • Own the monthly financial close process and ensure completion within seven working days.
  • Perform bank reconciliations across all Indian and US bank accounts.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and accounting between the Indian and US entities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting schedules in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Manage revenue accounting under ASC 606, including ratable subscription revenue, revenue cycle management (RCM) fees, deferred revenue, and unbilled revenue.

2. Revenue Accounting and Billing

  • Own the end-to-end revenue process, ensuring monthly billing is accurate, complete, and delivered on time.
  • Reconcile billed revenue against contracted amounts and collections.
  • Monitor accounts receivable ageing, follow up on outstanding payments, and support collection efforts.
  • Ensure revenue figures reconcile with the general ledger (GL), customer relationship management (CRM) system, and contractual terms.
  • Identify and resolve billing discrepancies, revenue recognition issues, and reconciliation gaps.

3. Client Communication and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the primary finance point of contact for client billing and invoice-related queries.
  • Resolve billing issues promptly and communicate clearly with clients, including US-based customers.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success on billing changes, disputes, credit notes, and renewals.
  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, and HR on financial transactions and business activities affecting the books.
  • Establish efficient coordination between finance and other teams to maintain accurate financial records and timely billing.

4. MIS and Management Reporting

  • Prepare and deliver a monthly management information system (MIS) reporting pack covering the profit and loss statement, balance sheet, cash flow, cash burn, runway, and department-wise expenditure.
  • Track vendor-level and expense-category spending and highlight variances against budgets.
  • Provide accurate, reconciled financial information for board presentations, investor updates, and due diligence.
  • Support leadership with financial analysis, reporting, and insights for business planning and decision-making.
  • Maintain reliable financial reports with minimal manual corrections or rework.

5. Indian Taxation and Regulatory Compliance

  • Manage GST compliance, including monthly or quarterly returns, reconciliation of GSTR-2B, GSTR-3B, and books, input tax credit (ITC), and export refund claims.
  • Oversee TDS returns and certificates, advance tax payments, and annual income tax filings.
  • Coordinate payroll-related statutory compliance, including Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI), and professional tax, in collaboration with the payroll partner.
  • Manage ROC/MCA filings, including MSME Form 1, and coordinate FEMA/RBI reporting requirements.
  • Maintain transfer pricing documentation and coordinate with external tax and legal advisors.
  • Coordinate statutory and tax audits from preparation through completion, ensuring documentation is accurate and submitted on time.

6. US Accounting and Compliance

  • Coordinate US federal and state tax filings, Form 1099 reporting, and annual franchise and state filings with the US CPA.
  • Reconcile US payroll and employee benefits with the payroll service provider.
  • Support preparation of US financial statements and coordinate audit or review requirements.
  • Ensure accounting records and supporting documentation meet applicable US accounting and compliance requirements.
  • Work with external advisors to resolve accounting and tax matters relating to the US entity.

7. Financial Controls and Process Improvement

  • Maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar covering all Indian and US statutory and tax deadlines.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs), approval workflows, and internal financial controls.
  • Maintain clean accounting schedules, reconciliations, supporting documents, and an organised data room.
  • Ensure financial records remain audit-ready and prepared for investor due diligence at short notice.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Must-Have Skills

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
  • 7–10 years of post-qualification experience in accounting, financial close, and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian direct taxation, including income tax and TDS, and indirect taxation, particularly GST.
  • Hands-on experience managing the books of an Indian entity alongside a US entity.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and cross-border accounting.
  • Experience with intercompany accounting, transfer pricing, and FEMA requirements.
  • Strong understanding of ROC/MCA filings and Indian statutory compliance.
  • Experience preparing and managing monthly MIS reports for founders or senior leadership.
  • Working knowledge of Zoho Books; experience with QuickBooks, Xero, or Tally is also relevant.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong financial reconciliation capabilities.
  • Strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to prepare and review financial information while driving issues through to resolution.
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to handle billing queries directly with US clients.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in a SaaS business or technology startup.
  • Familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition and SaaS financial metrics.
  • Exposure to US healthcare or health technology businesses.
  • Experience supporting fundraising, statutory audits, financial reviews, or investor due diligence.
  • Experience establishing finance processes, controls, and reporting systems from scratch.

Key Success Metrics — First Six Months

  • Complete the monthly close for both Indian and US entities within seven working days.
  • Ensure no missed statutory or tax deadlines across India and the US.
  • Maintain accurate revenue accounting and ensure billing is completed on time every month.
  • Resolve client billing queries within two working days.
  • Deliver a reliable monthly MIS pack that leadership can use without significant rework.
  • Reconcile all bank and intercompany accounts, with no unresolved items outstanding for more than 30 days.
  • Keep books, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documents ready for investor due diligence at short notice.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
