Provide strategic governance and academic leadership for experiential legal education across the School of Law.

The Opportunity

You will carry a significant strategic governance and academic leadership remit for experiential learning across the School of Law. Working closely with the Dean, you will lead the design, integration and continuous development of a distinctive experiential learning framework across undergraduate and postgraduate law programs.

You will translate educational strategy into rigorous, inclusive and scalable learning experiences. This will include clinical legal education, work-integrated learning, internships, simulations, reflective practice, authentic assessment and community-engaged projects. You will ensure these initiatives are supported by appropriate quality assurance, evaluation and measures of educational, professional and community impact.

You will build capability in academic and professional colleagues through mentoring, professional development, peer review and collaborative curriculum leadership. You will also strengthen partnerships with the legal profession, courts, government, community legal organisations and industry, positioning the School as a leader in contemporary, practice-connected and socially responsive legal education.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Establish a coherent strategic and governance framework for experiential learning across the School’s law programs.
  • Embed academically rigorous, inclusive and ethically grounded experiential learning throughout the curriculum.
  • Implement appropriate quality assurance, evaluation and impact measures for experiential learning initiatives.
  • Build capability in colleagues through mentoring, professional development, peer review and collaborative leadership.
  • Strengthen the School’s standing in contemporary, practice-connected and socially responsive legal education.

Please refer to the Position Description for full details.

About You

  • A PhD in law or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated strategic academic leadership in experiential learning, clinical legal education, work-integrated learning, authentic assessment or practice-connected professional education.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching, learning design and the delivery of undergraduate or postgraduate courses and programs.
  • Proven ability to build capability in colleagues through mentoring, professional development and collaborative academic leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in developing productive relationships with the legal profession, courts, government, industry and community organisations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
