We are looking for a skilled and product-oriented Backend Engineer – Platform & Integrations to design, develop, and maintain reliable backend services and API-driven systems. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Python, backend development, REST APIs, relational databases, and third-party integrations.

This role is suited for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, building dependable systems, and taking ownership of features from initial requirements through deployment and production support. You will contribute to developing scalable platforms that coordinate external service providers, process data reliably, and support critical business workflows.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Python.
  • Build reliable workflows for third-party service orchestration, verification processes, and case-management systems.
  • Integrate external APIs, handle authentication, validate responses, normalise data, and manage integration failures.
  • Design and maintain relational database schemas, data models, and efficient queries using PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar databases.
  • Build reliable data-processing pipelines with appropriate error handling, retries, timeouts, and logging.
  • Develop scalable backend components with a focus on performance, maintainability, security, and service reliability.
  • Take ownership of features throughout the development lifecycle, from requirement analysis and technical design to deployment and ongoing support.
  • Monitor production systems, investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Write clean, reusable, testable code and participate in code reviews to maintain engineering standards.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployments, containerisation, and application monitoring.
  • Contribute to event-driven workflows and asynchronous processing where required.
  • Document APIs, integration patterns, architectural decisions, and operational procedures.
  • Help improve development workflows, testing practices, and overall platform reliability.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 3–6 years of full-time professional software engineering experience, excluding internships.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and backend application development.
  • Experience designing and building REST APIs and integrating third-party services.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design and query optimisation.
  • Knowledge of reliable integration patterns, error handling, retries, timeouts, and API failure management.
  • Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and container technologies such as Docker.
  • Understanding of asynchronous processing, queues, event-driven architectures, and distributed-system fundamentals is an advantage.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, KYC/KYB verification, compliance platforms, or other API-intensive products is preferred.
  • Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and take end-to-end ownership of technical deliverables.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a lean, fast-moving engineering team.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
