About the Role
Grey Barn is a fast-growing commercial landscaping company serving properties throughout Northwest Arkansas. We are looking for a Certified Arborist to become our internal expert for tree care while helping us expand our tree-service capabilities. This is a hands-on field position.
Compensation
Base Salary: $66,000/year. Performance Bonus Opportunity: $12,000+/year. Target Total Compensation: $78,000+/year.
Performance bonuses will be tied to measurable results including profitable tree work, estimating performance, quality, safety, crew development, and overall individual/company performance. Exceptional performance can create opportunities to earn beyond the initial $12,000 annual bonus target.
What You Will Do
- Serve as Grey Barn's primary tree-care expert, performing and leading tree pruning, removals, planting, and chainsaw work
- Identify and document hazardous or declining trees, storm damage, and pruning and planting opportunities for the Sales/Account Management team
- Support the sales team on tree opportunities by visiting properties and estimating labor hours, crew size, and equipment for tree work
- Review larger or more complicated tree estimates before proposals are submitted
- Provide hands-on training and coaching to Crew Leaders and field employees on proper pruning, tree planting, and chainsaw safety. Teach while you work
- Establish and maintain Grey Barn's standards for chainsaw safety, PPE, aerial work, and rigging, with the authority and responsibility to stop unsafe tree work
- Assist crews with shrub pruning, hedge trimming, planting, and other landscaping duties as assigned
Requirements
- Current ISA Certified Arborist credential
- 5+ years of professional arboriculture/tree-care experience
- Demonstrated tree pruning, tree-removal, and tree-planting experience
- Strong tree identification knowledge and ability to identify common tree-health and safety issues
- Ability to estimate labor hours for tree work
- Strong understanding of chainsaw and tree-work safety
- Experience operating professional tree-care equipment
- Ability to train and coach field employees
- Willingness to perform physical field work and general landscaping work when needed
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work outdoors throughout the year
Strongly Preferred
- 7+ years of professional arboriculture experience
- Previous tree-crew leadership and experience training field crews
- Commercial landscaping experience
- Tree-work estimating experience
- Aerial lift/bucket-truck, climbing, and rigging experience
- CDL
- ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)
- Bilingual English/Spanish
