SearchPlus HR is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Consultant Gastrointestinal & Endocrine Surgeon to join a leading tertiary care hospital in Doha, Qatar. The successful candidate will provide specialised surgical care for complex gastrointestinal and endocrine conditions, contributing to high clinical standards, multidisciplinary collaboration, and excellent patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and surgically manage a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions involving the oesophagus, stomach, small and large bowel, and other abdominal organs.
- Perform elective and emergency gastrointestinal surgical procedures in accordance with clinical expertise and hospital privileges.
- Manage endocrine surgical conditions involving the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands, within the scope of specialist training and competence.
- Evaluate patients through comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnostic investigations, and appropriate imaging.
- Develop individualised surgical treatment plans and provide pre-operative, operative, and post-operative care.
- Perform minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures where appropriately trained and credentialed.
- Manage complex surgical cases and coordinate care with gastroenterologists, endocrinologists, oncologists, radiologists, and other specialists.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to determine optimal treatment strategies.
- Monitor post-operative recovery, identify complications, and ensure appropriate follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to clinical governance, infection-control, and patient-safety standards.
- Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and the education and supervision of junior medical staff.
Requirements
UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Surgery or an appropriately recognised surgical specialty aligned with the role.
Substantial consultant-level experience in gastrointestinal surgery, with relevant expertise in endocrine surgery.
Demonstrated experience managing complex gastrointestinal and endocrine surgical conditions.
Competence in open and minimally invasive surgical techniques relevant to the candidate’s training and practice.
Strong clinical judgement, surgical decision-making, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
Excellent communication and patient-management abilities.
Eligibility for consultant-level professional licensing in Qatar, subject to the relevant authority’s qualification and experience requirements.
