SearchPlus HR is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Consultant Stroke Medicine Physician to join a leading tertiary care hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The successful candidate will provide specialised care for patients with acute stroke and cerebrovascular disorders, contributing to evidence-based treatment, multidisciplinary collaboration, and improved patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute stroke, transient ischaemic attacks (TIA), and other cerebrovascular conditions.
- Provide timely assessment and treatment of acute ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke in accordance with established clinical protocols.
- Evaluate patients for appropriate acute stroke interventions, including thrombolysis and endovascular thrombectomy in collaboration with the relevant specialist teams.
- Interpret and utilise neuroimaging, including CT, MRI, and vascular imaging, to support clinical decision-making.
- Develop individualised treatment plans addressing secondary stroke prevention, risk-factor management, and long-term recovery.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary stroke care with neurologists, radiologists, emergency physicians, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation specialists, and nursing teams.
- Participate in stroke unit management, clinical pathways, and emergency stroke response services.
- Support post-stroke rehabilitation planning and coordinate appropriate follow-up care.
- Educate patients and families on stroke prevention, recovery, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
- Maintain accurate medical records and comply with clinical governance, patient-safety, and hospital protocols.
- Participate in clinical audits, stroke service development, research, and continuing professional development.
Requirements
Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognised institution.
UK CCT in Neurology, Geriatric Medicine, General Internal Medicine, or another relevant specialty recognised for the position, with appropriate stroke medicine expertise.
Substantial consultant-level experience in stroke medicine and cerebrovascular disease management.
Demonstrated expertise in acute stroke assessment, treatment decisions, and secondary prevention.
Experience working within a dedicated stroke unit or comprehensive stroke service is highly desirable.
Knowledge of current stroke management guidelines and multidisciplinary care pathways.
Excellent clinical judgement, communication, and leadership skills.
Eligibility for Consultant-level professional licensing with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), subject to the applicable qualification, experience, and classification requirements.
