The client designs and manufactures lighting products and solutions, serving customers through independent representatives and channel partners. Work Environment: Hybrid, office and remote based, with frequent travel to customer sites, trade shows, and industry events Travel: Up to 35% within assigned region

Job Summary

The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and execution of all sales, customer service and marketing activities across the company’s market segments. This includes oversight of the independent representative network, development of new business opportunities, management of major accounts, pricing strategies and worksheets, and direction of sales operations to achieve company growth and profitability goals.

This role includes full oversight of marketing, including branding, product marketing, digital presence, messaging, campaign development, trade show strategy, and market analytics. The Director will lead Marketing staff and work collaboratively with cross-functional departments to drive integrated commercial strategies.

Responsibilities include managing staffing, training, and performance of respective sales representatives; identifying new market opportunities; analyzing market and competitive trends; preparing pricing proposals; delivering product demonstrations; guiding marketing initiatives to support revenue growth and brand strength; and ensuring customers receive the best customer service possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administers, leads, manages, and directs the RSMs, customer service and marketing
  • Achieves sales and profit goals
  • Maintains and manages major accounts; identifies and develops new customers, territories, and markets
  • Reviews customer applications and generates proposals
  • Maintains and builds strong relationships with key accounts (customers and suppliers)
  • Analyzes and reviews sales trends by region; identifies opportunities, risks, and actions needed
  • Provides automotive project management as required
  • Creates and delivers product training to channel partners
  • Performs product demonstrations at customer sites, trade shows, and events
  • Develops and executes mutual action plans with key channel partners
  • Coordinates contract review with regional sales managers as needed
  • Oversees all customer service functions, including customer order entry, warranty claims and other post-sale customer service activities
  • Oversees all Marketing functions, including strategy, planning, messaging, and execution
  • Leads the Marketing Specialist in developing campaigns, promotions, digital content, and trade show materials
  • Directs product marketing activities, including competitive positioning, value propositions, and launch planning
  • Guides branding, website content, literature development, and communication materials
  • Analyzes market trends, competitive activity, pricing, and customer insights to influence strategy
  • Collaborates with Engineering and Product Development to align marketing with the new product roadmap
  • Works extensively with Regional Sales Managers, Purchasing/Supply Chain, Operations and Engineering to develop customer solutions
  • Provides inputs and direction into the New Product Development roadmap
  • Analyzes and prepares pricing for products with cross-functional input
  • Attends production or status meetings as needed
  • Performs other duties assigned to support customer commitments and company goals

  • Ability to develop and present strategy effectively to senior leadership
  • Proven ability to lead, influence, and manage sales teams and independent agencies
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field required
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in sales or business development
  • Experience in the lighting industry strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to own and drive sales and business development initiatives
