ABOUT US
Rythm is the fastest-growing lab in America. We redefined at-home testing with the world’s easiest blood test and created a culture around monthly lab testing from home. We’ve processed millions of tests across all 50 states, and we do everything in-house, from sample testing and logistics to code, marketing, and design. That vertical integration gives us the speed, control, and creativity to shape the future of health and wellness.
THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Hardware Engineer with medical device experience to take Rythm’s product ideas from early concept to production-ready parts. Hands-on experience designing medical-grade products or medical devices is required.
You’ll work closely with our design and manufacturing teams to turn design briefs into detailed 3D models, molds, and simulations that guide decisions about materials, tooling, and production. You’ll build prototypes, test them, and keep iterating until the product is right. Our products should feel well made, hold up to everyday use, and meet the standards health products demand, so you’ll need to balance design intent with what’s practical to manufacture.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You’ll own your projects from first model through production and work largely independently. You’ll also get to know Rythm’s products and customers well enough to make engineering decisions that serve the people who use them. We value precision, practical problem-solving, and the persistence to get the details right.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Turn ideas into designs. Take design briefs, rough concepts, and product requirements and develop them into detailed 3D models with a clear path to production.
- Listen and execute. Understand what the design team is asking for, ask good questions, and translate their intent into precise, buildable engineering.
- Design for manufacturing. Create parts that are ready for injection molding, accounting for materials, tolerances, draft, wall thickness, and assembly from the start.
- Build the molds. Design molds for injection molding and work through the details that determine how a part will be produced.
- Run mold flow analysis. Simulate the injection molding process to predict how parts will fill, cool, and hold up, then use those results to refine the design before tooling.
- Prototype and mock up. Build mockups and prototypes that let the team see, hold, and test a design early and often.
- Iterate relentlessly. Take feedback from each round of prototyping, make changes, and keep refining until the product meets its goals.
- Own your projects. Move each project from first concept through revisions and validation to production-ready designs, working independently and keeping things on track.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing. Work with the people who shape and build our products to understand what's practical to make and make sure the design holds up in production.
- Hold a high standard. Bring the care and rigor that health products demand, so what we make is safe, reliable, and built to last.
- Learn from the finished work. Review how products perform in production and in use, then apply those lessons to future designs.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Required: hands-on experience designing medical-grade products or medical devices. This is mandatory for the role.
- 7–10 years of experience in product engineering or physical product design.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and Fusion 360.
- Hands-on experience designing parts and molds for injection molding.
- Experience running mold flow analysis and using the results to improve a design.
- A portfolio or examples of products you've designed and taken into production, with a clear explanation of your contribution.
- Experience building mockups and prototypes and guiding a product through many rounds of iteration.
- The ability to listen closely to design requirements and execute on them with precision.
- Practical judgment about when to add detail, when to simplify, and how to balance design intent with manufacturing constraints.
- Comfort working independently and owning projects end to end.
- Comfort receiving feedback, revising your work, and staying aligned with an established product vision.
- Curiosity and a willingness to build deep knowledge of our company, products, and customers.
- Follow-through and the ability to manage multiple projects, prototypes, and deadlines.
- Your background could be in mechanical engineering, industrial design, medical device development, or consumer product engineering. We care most about what you've designed, what you've helped bring to production, and your ability to carry an idea through to a finished product.
