We are looking for an exceptionally strong Senior Systems Architect with deep expertise in high-performance application architecture, cross-platform engineering, real-time data processing, and graphics rendering. The ideal candidate will have experience building latency-sensitive applications where performance, responsiveness, and reliability are critical, preferably within the gaming industry or other performance-intensive domains such as financial trading, real-time analytics, or interactive applications.

This role requires a combination of systems-level thinking, advanced programming skills, and a strong understanding of modern web and mobile rendering technologies. You will architect shared, high-performance client-side systems across web, native mobile, and cross-platform frameworks, ensuring consistent functionality and exceptional responsiveness across platforms.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect a unified cross-platform client-side system that shares core business logic, order-book management, and binary data parsers across web, native mobile, Flutter, and React Native.
  • Design high-performance data ingestion pipelines for WebSocket streams using binary protocols such as Protocol Buffers, FlatBuffers, and Simple Binary Encoding (SBE).
  • Implement zero-copy data processing techniques to minimise memory allocations, data copying, and processing latency.
  • Move intensive parsing and data-processing operations off the main UI thread using Web Workers, native background threads, and Dart Isolates.
  • Design hardware-accelerated charting, graphics, and order-book rendering systems using Canvas, WebGL/WebGPU, Flutter Impeller/Skia, and native graphics APIs such as Metal and Vulkan.
  • Optimise rendering pipelines to achieve consistent, low-latency performance, targeting 120 FPS where supported by the platform and hardware.
  • Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks, including garbage-collection pauses, UI thread blocking, excessive memory allocation, and dropped frames.
  • Apply memory pooling, lock-free data structures, concurrency patterns, and efficient resource management techniques.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, profiling practices, and automated testing to validate responsiveness, stability, and scalability across devices.
  • Lead architecture reviews, define engineering standards, and guide teams in implementing maintainable, high-performance systems.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to translate demanding functional requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and optimisation techniques across web, mobile, graphics, and systems programming.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 9+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial experience designing high-performance applications or complex client-side systems.
  • Experience in the gaming industry is strongly preferred, particularly in real-time rendering, graphics optimisation, game engines, or performance-critical applications.
  • Strong understanding of cross-platform architecture spanning web, native iOS/Android, and frameworks such as Flutter or React Native.
  • Hands-on experience with WebAssembly, Web Workers, JavaScript/TypeScript, Dart, or native mobile development.
  • Strong knowledge of streaming architectures, WebSockets, binary protocols, and efficient data-processing pipelines.
  • Experience with zero-copy processing, memory pooling, concurrency, multithreading, and lock-free programming techniques.
  • Practical experience with graphics rendering technologies such as WebGL, WebGPU, Canvas, Skia, Impeller, Metal, or Vulkan.
  • Proven ability to profile and optimise CPU, memory, rendering, and network performance in latency-sensitive applications.
  • Strong understanding of garbage collection, memory allocation, thread scheduling, and platform-specific performance constraints.
  • Experience building responsive, real-time interfaces that handle high-frequency data updates without compromising usability.
  • Excellent architectural judgement, debugging skills, and the ability to solve complex systems-level engineering problems.
  • Strong communication and technical leadership skills, with the ability to guide engineering teams and drive architectural decisions.
  • A strong focus on performance measurement, engineering precision, reliability, and continuous optimisation.
