The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigeria nationals for the position below at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.
Position: Field Supervisor
Contract: 6-month renewable contract
Location: Ibadan
Closing Date: 15 October 2026
DUTIES
· Perform nematode extraction using the specified methodology
· Operate soil sterilization machine and perform soil sterilization
· Transport sterilized soil to various screen houses/location
· Maintain unit vehicle, soil machines and lab equipment
· Establish and maintain IITA mandate crops in the screen house and field for nematode activities
· Regulate nematode population and maintain the screen house, micro plots and field plants to ensure optimal growth and health throughout the diagnosis period
· Data collection, collation and entry
· Safely dispose of pots, plant materials, and other related laboratory waste following the completion of nematode diagnosis and assessment, in compliance with institutional biosafety and waste management procedures.
· Ensure the security and proper handling of passengers, students, project documents, and equipment during transportation.
· Perform any other duties assigned by the manager/scientist.
Requirements
QUALIFICATION
BSc/HND in Agriculture, Biological Sciences, Plant Science, Crop Science, or a related field, with two (2) years of relevant practical experience in field and laboratory activities in a structured organization.
COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate must have:
· Have the ability to operate material-handling tools and equipment.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to work independently and under pressure.
· Good interpersonal and communication skills.
· Experience in research, survey implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and data collection.
