The posting

In Nederland staat de kwaliteit van onze natuur onder druk. Stikstof, ruimtelijke ontwikkelingen en gebiedsprocessen raken steeds meer met elkaar verweven. Bij WSP zoeken we een ervaren gebiedsecoloog die zich focust op de ecologische beoordeling van effecten op Natura 2000-gebieden, in bijzonder stikstof effecten. Dit kan vanuit een van onze vestigingen in Nieuwegein, Maastricht, Rotterdam of Leeuwarden.

Hoe ziet jouw nieuwe rol eruit?

Als gebiedsecoloog bij WSP speel jij een cruciale rol in het integreren van ecologische kennis in projecten. Jij overziet de ecologische impact van ruimtelijke plannen of bedrijfsontwikkelingen en adviseert over duurzame, natuurinclusieve oplossingen met oog voor stikstof en biodiversiteit. Daarnaast heb je onder andere de volgende kerntaken:

  • Het voeren van ecologische beoordelingen (Ecologische Voortoetsen en Passende Beoordelingen) ten aanzien van alle effecten die van invloed kunnen zijn op Natura 2000-gebieden maar in ieder geval ten aanzien van stikstofdepositie.
  • Adviseren over beleidsmaatregelen die ecologie versterken, bijvoorbeeld binnen gebiedsprogramma’s of vergunningaanvragen.
  • Het begeleiden en adviseren van complexe (integrale) projecten binnen ruimtelijke ontwikkelingen vanuit ecologisch perspectief.
  • Adviseren hoe we met de juiste ecologische maatregelen meerwaarde bieden voor gebieden en opdrachtgevers.
  • Het coachen en inhoudelijk begeleiden van junior en medior collega’s die zich willen specialiseren in gebiedsecologie en beleidsadvisering.

Je werkt samen met collega's met een eigen specialisme zoals; technische specialisten, juristen en adviseurs.

Samen met dit team zie je ecologische onderzoeken in een breder en integraal perspectief. Ook zal je veel samen werken met collega’s vanuit andere disciplines en business units, die jouw kennis en kunde kunnen gebruiken voor het verder brengen van hun eigen projecten.

Wat zien wij graag in jou?

Je draagt jouw passie voor ecologie graag uit en vindt het leuk om ecologische projecten te vertalen naar uitvoerbare, beleidsmatige oplossingen. Jij bent in staat om een advies te beoordelen en te vertalen naar praktische oplossingen. Verder zien we graag:

  • Een afgeronde hbo- of wo- opleiding binnen ecologie, biologie, milieukunde of soortgelijk.
  • Een aantal jaren ervaring in een soortgelijke (beleidsmatige) rol.
  • Een brede ecologische basis, met specifieke kennis van Natura 2000, stikstof en de beleidscontext rondom gebiedsbescherming.
  • Sterke communicatieve vaardigheden: je weet ecologische vraagstukken helder te vertalen naar (beleids)advies, en bouwt makkelijk relaties op met collega’s, opdrachtgevers en overheden.
  • Uitstekende beheersing van de Nederlandse taal, zowel mondeling als schriftelijk.
