Job Description
The Subcontract Technical Representative (STR) provides technical oversight and leadership for construction, maintenance, and site‑services subcontracts from conception through closeout. This role manages high‑complexity subcontract activities and serves as the technical authority for subcontract performance, ensuring alignment with Acquisition Services Management Division and Construction Management policies and procedures. The STR provides technical direction, resolves complex field challenges, and ensures subcontractors meet all contractual, regulatory, and performance requirements. This role proactively mitigates risk, drives operational excellence, ensures technical integration across project stakeholders, and stewards continuous improvement in subcontract execution.
Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Ensuring strict adherence to safety, quality, technical, and regulatory requirements.
- Help contribute across field engineering, construction management, safety, procurement, and operations, ensuring integrated planning and efficient execution.
- Contribute to complex modifications within nuclear or similarly hazardous facilities, providing advanced technical guidance and issue resolution.
- Ensure full compliance with Standard Work Process Procedures and lead improvements to strengthen subcontractor performance and project outcomes.
- Champion Zero‑Accident safety principles, mentor junior STRs, and reinforce a strong safety culture across subcontract teams.
- Contribute to NQA‑1 compliant subcontract implementation, identifying gaps, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring sustained compliance.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation packages, inspection records, performance metrics, and progress reports for management.
- Level II: Support team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, under guided supervision.
- Level III: Conduct risk identification and analysis; recommend and implement mitigation strategies to support safe, efficient, and compliant execution.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for subcontractors, resolving complex issues and ensuring alignment with project goals and contractual requirements.
- Execute the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, with minimal supervision.
Job Profile Minimum Qualifications:
- Level II: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Contracts Law, Environmental Sciences, or related field, and 3 or more years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including specialized coursework in contract management
- Level III: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Contracts Law, Environmental Sciences, or related field, and 5 or more years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including specialized coursework in contract management
- Experience across multiple construction oversight disciplines (Field Engineering, Superintendent, Construction Management, Project Management, STR, Waste Management, Safety, Quality, or Procurement).
- Knowledge and application of Standard Work Process Procedures.
- Experience with construction modifications in nuclear facility operations or other highly complex, hazardous environments.
- Experience managing and executing NQA‑1 compliant subcontracts , preferred.
- Experience with commissioning, system testing, troubleshooting, and operational validations, preferred.

Work Site Expectations: 5 days in office
Travel: 10% potential
Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri
Compensation
As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives.
Offers within the posted salary range are commensurate with the individual’s qualifications for the position, along with a view on internal equity, market data, and room for growth. The salary range for this position is:
Level II: $67500- $92,250, Level III: $81,000- $112,500
