The posting

What if your next General Manager role was more than running a hotel?

At Zoku Amsterdam you'll lead a vibrant team, build an engaged guest community, and shape the future of one of the city's most innovative hospitality concepts.

Now we're looking for an experienced General Manager to lead our Amsterdam location into its next chapter.

ABOUT ZOKU AMSTERDAM

Zoku is an award-winning hospitality concept that combines staying, working and socializing under one roof. With locations in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Vienna and Paris, we're redefining what it means to stay in a city.

Opened in 2016, Zoku Amsterdam is located in the heart of the eastern Canal District. With stunning rooftop views, a buzzing social space, and a strong local community presence, it has become a creative hub for international travelers, freelancers, and locals alike. The property features 133 Lofts, flexible meeting rooms and event spaces, coworking spaces, outdoor terraces and gardens, and a lively rooftop restaurant and bar that reflect Zoku’s mission to blend work and play in a purposeful way.

TELL ME MORE As our General Manager, you take ownership of the full performance, people, guest experience and building. You translate Zoku’s strategy into clear local priorities and deliver results across Rooms, Food & Beverage and Meeting & Events. Working through a lean leadership team, you combine commercial judgement with a visible presence in the operation.

Reporting to the Operations Director, you'll be the driving force behind Zoku’s unique value proposition, optimizing lean processes and coaching the team to achieve excellence. Leading by example, you’ll inspire consistency, professionalism, and enthusiasm at every turn.

Our Support Office provides company-wide standards and specialist expertise. You are accountable for putting these into practice locally, making decisions within agreed budgets, and taking action where performance needs a boost.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

No two days look the same as a General Manager … but here’s a glimpse of what you can expect:

  • Own the business: You are accountable for the P&L performance. You shape budgets and forecasts, manage payroll and operating costs, and turn financial insights into concrete actions. You align commercial priorities and responsibilities, identify opportunities to improve revenue and profitability, and ensure follow-through results.
  • Create exceptional guest experience: At Zoku, hospitality goes beyond rooms. You'll ensure guests, members, and local visitors genuinely feel part of our community. Whether through service, atmosphere, events, F&B or thoughtful connections, you'll help create experiences that make people want to return again and again.
  • Build a strong and stable team: You coach, develop and inspire your team, making sure everyone understands their responsibilities and feels confident making decisions within their role. You own the full P&C cycle, supported by P&C expertise. Zoku Amsterdam counts around 40 employees.
  • Take care of maintenance and the building: You are accountable for maintenance, the building’s condition, and compliance with local safety requirements. You ensure maintenance and service partners meet agreed standards, manage day-to-day local landlord matters and identify and prioritize investment needs, supported by a central and onsite maintenance specialist.
  • Build strong partnerships: you develop effective relationships with local partners and external service providers, including housekeeping. You set clear expectations, monitor quality and costs, and act when delivery falls short.
  • Bring the Zoku concept to life: You translate Zoku’s brand standards and SOPs into consistent daily practice. You ensure the team delivers the intended service, atmosphere and experience, and turn guest feedback and operational insights into improvements.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

  • A gross monthly salary starting from €6,200, based on a full-time position and experience.
  • Participation in a pension plan.
  • A bonus scheme linked to your annual objectives (KPIs).
  • A uniquely entrepreneurial General Manager role with the autonomy to run a business, not just manage a hotel.
  • Close collaboration with senior leadership and specialist Support Office teams
  • Beyond compensation, this is a unique opportunity to leave your mark on one of Zoku's flagship European locations and help shape what comes next.
  • Great perks, including various discounts, and special rates for your friends and family at all Zoku locations.
  • A young, fun, and international company where you can learn, grow, and share experiences with colleagues from around the world.
  • Excellent staff meals, enjoyed in our social spaces with the best city views.
  • Exciting training opportunities and fun events throughout the year to celebrate achievements and milestones.
  • Travel to other Zoku locations to meet and connect with fellow GM’s.
  • A full-time position (40 hours per week) at one of the 25 coolest hotels in the world, a that feels like a second home and is driven by a clear mission.

WHAT WE ARE PROUD OF

Zoku combines the energy of a lifestyle brand with the warmth of a close knit team. We challenge traditional hospitality by creating spaces where people genuinely connect, whether they’re staying for one night or several months.

Next to our award-winning design and our global press fan club, we’re proud to be a B Corp certified across all our locations, meaning we care deeply about people, community, and doing business with a heart (not just as a marketing line).

A FEW MUST HAVES

  • Relevant leadership experience within the Dutch hospitality industry, with a solid understanding of the local market, labour environment and guest expectations.
  • A proven track record of improving hotel performance, profitability and team stability.
  • Strong commercial and financial skills, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll management, and cost control.
  • Experience developing operational leaders and leading the full P&C cycle.
  • A strong, inspiring leadership style, with the ability to develop, motivate and elevate teams and leaders.
  • The ability to lead independently in a lean organization, translating company standards into consistent local execution.
  • Experience overseeing building maintenance, service partners and safety standards.
  • Proven ability to balance guest experience, people leadership and commercial performance.
  • Fluent English, Dutch is a huge advantage.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
