Job Description

Kia ora!

We are looking for expressions of interest from pilots wanting to join Air New Zealand's turboprop fleets. Here, you'll find yourself in the right-hand seat of an ATR or a Dash 8 Q300.

In our turboprop fleets, entry is at First Officer level, with positions available across a number of bases around the country. Whether you are looking for a career flying props or a pathway to our jet fleet, this is a great point of entry. As a First Officer flying a Dash 8 Q300 or an ATR, you will play a pivotal role in flying our customers to their destinations.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the following requirements:

  • NZCAA CPL/ATPL* (NZCAA ATPL or all ATPL subjects passed preferred)
  • NZCAA MEIR*
  • NZCAA Class 1 Medical*
  • 500 hours total time
  • 25 night hours
  • 40 hours Instrument Flight Time
  • NZCAA BTK/BGT endorsements
  • L6 English Language Proficiency
  • New Zealand citizen/permanent resident/resident OR Australian citizen. The ability to travel overseas is required, including a valid passport and necessary visas.

What to expect from our recruitment process

We currently have a strong pool of high-calibre applicants for our turboprop First Officer positions. While we carefully review every application, the recruitment process can take some time due to the volume and calibre of applications we receive. We appreciate your patience throughout the process and will be in touch should your application progress to the next stage.

As your application may remain under consideration for some time, we encourage you to keep your online application up to date whenever there are any significant changes to your flying experience, qualifications or total hours. We also recommend reviewing it periodically to ensure your information remains current.

What's in it for you? Our Pilots do more than fly planes, they take great pride in providing customers with safe and enjoyable journeys, wherever they travel with us. They are actively encouraged as a leader in all of their roles. Throughout your career, you'll have development opportunities in areas such as training, management and projects.

All applications must be submitted online. You will need to have your logbook and licence information handy at the time of registration to complete your application.

*Whilst you must meet these requirements prior to an offer of employment, we understand that you may have foreign-issued qualifications that could be converted to NZCAA licences. Should this be the case, we may consider your application while you are undertaking the conversion process with NZCAA. If applicable, you will need to complete the formal Foreign Licence Conversion initial process through Aspeq and provide a copy of the initial assessment letter ahead of being invited to interview. Please refer to NZCAA for more information: https://www.aviation.govt.nz/licensing-and-certification/pilots/pilot-licensing/recognising-foreign-pilot-licences/

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
