Job Description

Kia ora!

At Air New Zealand, our digital platforms depend on secure, resilient and highly available networks to keep our business connected. From airports and operational environments to data centres, international locations and cloud platforms, our network infrastructure plays a critical role in supporting our airline operations.

We're looking for an experienced Network Engineer (internal title: Senior Infrastructure Operations Specialist) to join our Digital Platforms team and help maintain, support and evolve our enterprise network environment.

This is a hands-on technical role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex network challenges, working across a broad range of technologies and driving improvements that make a real difference to service reliability and performance.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Provide Level 3 technical expertise to troubleshoot complex network incidents, identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Engineer, support and improve enterprise LAN, Wi-Fi, WAN, SD-WAN, data centre and cloud networking services.
  • Contribute to network designs, upgrades, migrations and the ongoing evolution of our network infrastructure.
  • Proactively identify and address network performance, capacity, availability and security risks, ensuring compliance with safety and organisational requirements.
  • Work closely with internal teams, technology vendors and managed service partners to ensure reliable service delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, engineering standards and operational best practices.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies to plan, prioritise and deliver operational and improvement work.
  • Stay current with infrastructure and platform technologies, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, automation and operational efficiency.

What you’ll bring

You'll be an experienced network engineer with strong technical fundamentals and a passion for solving complex problems, including:

  • 5+ years' experience in enterprise network engineering or operations.
  • Strong routing, switching and network troubleshooting skills.
  • Practical knowledge of enterprise Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, firewalls, network security and data centre networking.
  • Experience or knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid connectivity, ideally AWS or Azure.
  • Exposure to Cisco and Aruba technologies, or equivalent enterprise networking platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills, technical ownership and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Relevant industry certifications are beneficial but not mandatory. We value practical experience, sound engineering judgement and a willingness to learn.

Why Air New Zealand?

You'll be working on business-critical network infrastructure supporting one of New Zealand's most recognised brands. Our environment offers the opportunity to work with diverse technologies at enterprise scale, tackle complex engineering challenges and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our network and cloud services.

If you're passionate about networking and want to work where technology genuinely matters, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now and help power the Digital Airline.

Applications close 11:59pm, Sunday 22 November 2026.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
