Airborne is a technology leader in advanced composites, specialized in the industrialization of engineering and manufacturing of durable fiber reinforced composites for the Aerospace Industry. With our 25 years heritage in composites, we provide our clients with high-end composite solutions, either directly through advanced manufacturing of components or by developing industrialization packages which we implement at manufacturers of choice. Airborne’s focus is on high-end composite components, at high production rates at radically low conversion costs. We work in The Hague, Ypenburg (NL) and Lambourn (UK). Together we are a dynamic group of 160 employees. Airborne is growing very fast, around the 50% a year.

At Airborne Aerospace, we develop and manufacture advanced composite structures for the aerospace industry. As a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in defining and optimizing quality processes to ensure our products consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.

You are responsible for:

As part of our growing QA team (currently 3 members, with planned expansion), you will be responsible for establishing and improving quality processes within Airborne Aerospace. Your key tasks include:

  • Developing and implementing quality assurance plans within projects to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Defining and implementing inspection plans to determine the necessary quality control steps.
  • Ensuring supply chain compliance, working closely with suppliers to uphold quality standards.
  • Reviewing and writing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring proper documentation and resolution of quality issues.
  • Leading root cause analyses and implementing corrective and preventive actions for continuous improvement.
  • Improving and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) by reviewing and optimizing procedures and work instructions.
  • Acting as the key quality liaison between customers, suppliers, and internal project teams.
  • Performing and supporting internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., AS9100).

We are searching for a strategic thinker who can maintain a high-level overview while diving into the details when necessary. Our ideal candidate has:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in aerospace or composite production is an advantage.
  • Auditing Experience: Familiarity with internal and external quality audits.
  • Analytical & Decision-Making Skills: Ability to assess complex quality issues, propose solutions, and implement changes.
  • Process-Oriented Mindset: Strong ability to set up and refine quality processes to meet both customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Competence: Understanding of inspection techniques and ability to determine which inspections are required.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Ability to interact with customers, suppliers, and internal teams, ensuring seamless quality integration.
  • Languages: Proficient in English (spoken and written) to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. (Dutch is a plus)
  • Preferred Knowledge: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.
