The posting

Disputes & Resolution Specialist

Location: Manchester Contract: 6-month Fixed Term Contract Working Pattern: Full-time

We’re looking for a Disputes & Resolution Specialist to join our Finance team and take ownership of complex customer invoice queries and disputes across our UK and US operations.

This is more than a traditional Credit Control role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting to the bottom of problems. You’ll investigate disputed invoices, understand why issues have occurred, work with different teams to resolve them and, importantly, identify what can be changed to prevent the same problems happening again.

If you have experience within Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing or a similar finance environment and you naturally enjoy solving problems, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing customer invoice disputes from initial query through to resolution
  • Reviewing aged debt and identifying invoices requiring investigation
  • Investigating complex disputed invoices and gathering the information needed to resolve them
  • Logging and maintaining accurate records of disputes and their progress
  • Working closely with Credit Control, Billing, Sales, Operations and regional stakeholders
  • Supporting the reduction of disputed aged debt and collection of overdue invoices
  • Monitoring outstanding disputes and escalating high-risk or high-value issues where required
  • Using customer portals to submit invoices, retrieve information and investigate queries
  • Identifying recurring issues and getting to the root cause of why disputes are happening
  • Recommending improvements to processes and controls to prevent repeat issues
  • Supporting activity across both UK and US ledgers

What we’re looking for

You don’t need to come from one specific industry or have one particular job title. We’re more interested in finding someone who is investigative, commercially minded and genuinely enjoys solving complex problems.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Experience within Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing or Finance Operations
  • Experience investigating and resolving invoice queries or disputes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to investigate an issue from start to finish
  • Experience using customer or supplier portals for invoicing, payments or query resolution
  • Experience with systems such as Oracle, Ariba or Fusion would be beneficial
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Good Excel and reporting skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple queries and priorities
  • A strong sense of ownership and a proactive approach to getting things resolved

Experience within recruitment or staffing isn't essential.

We’d also be interested in people from hire, rental, staffing or other service-led environments where you've worked with pay-and-bill, recharges, hourly billing or similarly complex customer invoicing.

What will make you stand out?

You’ll be someone who doesn't just want to close a query and move on.

When something goes wrong, you naturally want to understand why it happened, how to fix it and what can be done differently to stop it happening again.

If you're comfortable navigating different finance systems and customer portals, enjoy untangling complicated invoice issues and like taking ownership of problems through to resolution, this could be a great opportunity for you.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
