The posting
As a senior digital and electrical hardware engineer, you will own board-level digital and electrical design for ANDREW’s distributed antenna system (DAS) and small cell platforms. Your focus will be board design, component lifecycle management and hardware cost reduction. You will also review redesigns delivered by external engineering partners and make sure they work with our existing platforms. This is a hands-on, founding role in our new hardware engineering team in Suzhou, working closely with global FPGA, software and hardware colleagues.
Responsibilities:
Design and maintain digital and mixed-signal boards for radio, transport and control functions. Develop hardware interfaces for FPGA/SoC devices, memory, Ethernet, synchronization and control circuitry. Design and optimize power distribution, voltage regulation and electrical interfaces. Own schematic design and review printed circuit board (PCB) layout, signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI). Lead component end-of-life (EOL) resolution, alternate component qualification and board redesign. Drive PCB and bill of materials (BOM) cost reduction, component standardization and design for manufacturing (DFM). Review hardware redesigns from external engineering partners and confirm compatibility with existing ANDREW platforms. Support hardware bring-up, debugging, design verification testing (DVT) and production introduction. Maintain design documentation in line with ANDREW product lifecycle management and data security processes.
Required Skills:
8+ years in digital or electrical hardware design. Strong experience with complex multilayer PCB designs and high-speed digital interfaces (such as PCIe, JESD204B/C and 10/25G Ethernet). Knowledge of FPGA/SoC hardware design (AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera) and power management. Experience with timing and synchronization circuits (PTP/SyncE, clocking and jitter) a plus. Experience with schematic capture and PCB tools (such as Cadence Allegro or Siemens Xpedition), SI/PI analysis and lab debugging. Familiarity with component lifecycle management, alternate sourcing and manufacturing engineering. Knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and safety design practices for telecom equipment. Experience working across global, cross-functional engineering teams. Professional working proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required Education and Experience:
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience. Experience with Tier-1 vendors or operator deployments preferred.
