Job Description

Associate – Structured & Project Finance

Edinburgh

Exceptional by design. A career at the forefront of Structured & Project Finance.

Join a market-leading Structured and Project Finance team where your expertise will contribute to high-value, complex transactions across the UK and internationally. Pinsent Masons is seeking a Structured and Project Finance Lawyer (4–6 years PQE) to join our growing team in Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to work on landmark financing and development projects in the energy and infrastructure sectors, including renewable energy generation, energy storage and low carbon initiatives, while collaborating with recognised leaders in the field.

You’ll be part of a top-tier, internationally focused projects practice, advising lenders, sponsors and developers across the full lifecycle of projects – from development and financing through to refinancing, operational matters and M&A. Working with a diverse, global client base, you’ll gain exposure to innovative, sector-leading work while building strong client relationships and developing deep expertise in a strategic and fast-evolving industry.

The Opportunity

You will play a central role in delivering some of the most complex and high-profile financing transactions in the market, advising a broad range of lenders, sponsors and developers across the full lifecycle of energy and infrastructure projects. Working closely with partners and colleagues across the UK and our international network, you will support a diverse portfolio of work including renewable energy (onshore and offshore wind, solar, anaerobic digestion and battery storage), infrastructure assets (including interconnectors, transport and accommodation projects) and other low carbon initiatives, as well as refinancings, operational matters and M&A.

At Pinsent Masons, your career is exceptional by design: deliberately shaped to support high performance, deep sector expertise and long-term progression. You will contribute to a growing and highly regarded Structured and Project Finance practice, building strong client relationships and delivering pragmatic, commercially focused advice within a collaborative team known for its market-leading work and sector insight.

What You’ll Do

Bring your finance and projects expertise and commercially focused approach to a team trusted by leading banks, sponsors and developers. Your role will see you:

  • Advising on the structuring, development and financing of complex energy and infrastructure projects
  • Drafting and negotiating key finance and project documentation, including facility agreements, security documents, intercreditor arrangements and related commercial contracts
  • Supporting clients on a broad range of transactions, including new project financings, refinancings, portfolio financings and M&A in the energy and infrastructure sectors
  • Working closely with colleagues across construction, corporate, regulatory and international teams, as well as external stakeholders, to deliver seamless, full-service advice
  • Advising on the operational phase of projects, including amendments, waivers, consents and ongoing portfolio support matters
  • Building strong client relationships, supporting business development initiatives and playing an active role in the continued growth of our market-leading Structured and Project Finance practice

About the Team

Our Structured and Project Finance team advises a broad range of clients, including:

  • UK and international banks and alternative lenders
  • Project sponsors, developers and infrastructure investors
  • Private equity and infrastructure funds
  • Energy companies, utilities and renewable energy developers
  • Development finance institutions and international financial institutions

The team is recognised for delivering high-quality, commercially pragmatic advice on complex financing transactions, and for its deep sector expertise across energy and infrastructure, particularly within the rapidly evolving renewables and low carbon landscape.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
