The posting

David Kennedy Recruitment is working with a financial services company that is seeking to onboard a Legal Counsel to join their team in Limassol, Cyprus. The successful candidate supports the organisation across legal matters, licensing, regulatory requirements and corporate documentation, reporting directly to the Legal & Compliance Manager.

Position: Legal Counsel - Financial Services

Location: Limassol, Cyprus.

Work model: On-site

Employment type: Full-time

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee legal matters across the organisation, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and internal policies
  • Liaise with external legal counsel and conduct legal research and analysis across multiple jurisdictions
  • Manage end-to-end licensing processes in various countries, including applications, renewals and ongoing legal requirements
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, local filings and corporate governance documentation
  • Maintain a centralised legal database covering contracts, licensing documents and external correspondence
  • Support the organisation with legal framework and requirements applicable to CIFs
  • Train and mentor junior legal staff and promote consistent legal standards and practices across the team
  • Identify legal issues, assess potential solutions and take appropriate action
  • Report directly to the Legal & Compliance Manager

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Around 5 years of relevant experience gained within a law firm and the legal department of an FX company
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Greek
  • Interest in financial markets and legal frameworks applicable to CIFs
  • Strong legal research, analytical and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Dynamic, professional and trustworthy approach with a strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn quickly and develop within a competitive financial services environment
