The posting

Who we are

Flow Pouch makes functional mushroom pouches. People use them as a clean alternative to nicotine pouches and energy products: no nicotine, no caffeine, no crash. We launched in 2024, we have grown quickly, mostly through subscriptions, and we manufacture in the US with contract manufacturers. We are a team of about 25 people across the US, Europe and the Philippines, with the founders based in Miami.

Why we are hiring

We have one product that works and a pipeline of flavors, actives and formats we want to bring to market. Today the formula lives with our contract manufacturers and in the heads of the founders; there is no single person who owns it. We want one person in Miami who owns the formulation end to end: what goes in, at what potency, from which supplier, to which specification, and how we prove the manufacturers delivered it.

You would work directly with our co-founder who runs operations and with our CMO and co-founder, visit the manufacturers, and have lab access for bench work and sample evaluation.

What you will own

  • The formula. A complete bill of materials with specifications, potencies, overages and stability data for every ingredient, documented so that anyone can source and audit it.
  • Ingredient sourcing. Identify and qualify suppliers, review certificates of analysis, negotiate specifications, manage branded and trademarked ingredients.
  • New products. New flavors, new actives and new formats from concept through pilot batch and scale-up with our contract manufacturers.
  • Quality specifications. The QC specs our manufacturers are held to, and the review of batch records and test results against them.
  • Claims support. [TAL: own label compliance and claims substantiation / work with our regulatory partner so that] every dose on the label is backed by the evidence behind the claim.
  • The development pipeline. A clear view of what is in development, with timelines and costs, so the founders can decide quickly.

What this role is not

This is not a QA or plant role; the manufacturers run their own production and quality systems. It is not a marketing role; our CMO owns claims messaging and you make sure the science behind it holds. And it is not a research position: we are a consumer brand, and the work is formulating, sourcing and launching products that sell.

Who we are looking for

  • You have five or more years of hands-on formulation experience in dietary supplements, nutraceuticals or functional food.
  • You have built BOMs and specifications from scratch and worked with contract manufacturers on quotes, pilot batches and commercial runs.
  • You know ingredient sourcing: suppliers, COAs, potency and pricing.
  • You understand how a dose relates to a claim and you can read a clinical study.
  • You have a degree in chemistry, pharmacy, food science or a related field.
  • You are based between Miami and West Palm Beach and can be on-site regularly.
  • A plus: oral formats (pouches, lozenges, strips, chews), gummies, flavor system development, cGMP and 21 CFR 111, DSHEA.

What is hard about this

We would rather you hear it now than in month three:

  • You are the first dedicated R&D person. There is no lab team, no technician and no documentation system waiting for you; you build the first version of all of it.
  • Some of what you need to know lives in the founders' heads and at the manufacturers. Expect to ask, document and verify.
  • We decide fast and change priorities quickly. A product that was next month's priority can become this week's.
  • Our format is unusual. There is little industry precedent for mushroom actives in an oral pouch, so you will be working out answers rather than looking them up.
