WE ARE HIRING: Assistant HR Manager

Location: Sri Lanka Employment Type: Full Time Industry: Retail / Fashion Retail

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and people-oriented Assistant HR Manager to support and strengthen the organization's human resource function. The successful candidate will play a key role in recruitment, employee relations, HR administration, policy implementation, employee welfare, performance management, and compliance with labour regulations. This position requires a hands-on HR professional with strong interpersonal skills, sound knowledge of Sri Lankan labour laws, and the ability to effectively support employees and management in creating a productive and positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage recruitment activities including candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding processes.
  • Support hiring managers in identifying and attracting suitable talent for organizational requirements.
  • Manage employee records, personal files, HR documentation, and related administrative functions.
  • Administer payroll-related activities, employee benefits, and HR support processes.
  • Review employee performance regularly and support performance management initiatives.
  • Identify employee performance concerns and recommend appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
  • Prepare reports relating to employment data, employee movements, and HR metrics.
  • Conduct employee exit interviews and provide recommendations to improve employee retention.
  • Prepare job descriptions, position openings, and recruitment-related documentation.
  • Manage staff onboarding activities and employment agreement administration.
  • Maintain and update employee databases and HR information systems.
  • Implement and maintain HR policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
  • Assist management in resolving employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and workplace disputes.
  • Support employee welfare, engagement, and communication initiatives.
  • Handle labour-related matters while ensuring compliance with applicable employment legislation.
  • Provide guidance to employees and management on HR policies and procedures.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–4 years of experience in a similar HR capacity.
  • Experience within the retail industry will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of human resource administration and HR best practices.
  • Sound understanding of Sri Lankan labour laws and employment regulations.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and HR systems.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
