Role Overview

We are seeking a confident, commercially minded, and relationship-focused Assistant Manager – Contracting to join a leading Destination Management team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in building and maintaining strong supplier partnerships while securing competitive rates, favorable terms, and value-added offerings that strengthen the organization's product portfolio and commercial performance. This role requires strong negotiation capabilities, market awareness, supplier management expertise, and a deep understanding of Sri Lanka's hotel and tourism landscape. The ideal candidate should be capable of managing contracting activities independently while contributing to pricing strategy, profitability, product development, and business growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate competitive hotel rates, value-added offers, and favorable commercial terms with suppliers and partners.
  • Manage hotel and supplier contracting activities, including new agreements, contract renewals, and commercial negotiations.
  • Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with hotels, resorts, transport providers, and tourism suppliers.
  • Analyze rates, pricing structures, market trends, and competitor activity to support informed business decisions.
  • Identify new supplier opportunities, product offerings, and destination experiences that strengthen the company portfolio.
  • Monitor supplier performance and proactively resolve commercial, operational, and service-related issues.
  • Work closely with Sales, Reservations, Product Development, and Operations teams to ensure alignment of commercial objectives.
  • Maintain accurate contracting information, negotiated rates, special offers, agreements, and supplier records.
  • Support pricing strategies, profitability targets, and revenue optimization initiatives.
  • Assist in product development by identifying destination trends and supplier opportunities.
  • Represent the organization professionally during negotiations and interactions with tourism industry stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the achievement of business growth, customer satisfaction, and commercial performance objectives.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical abilities with strong skills in rate comparison, pricing analysis, and commercial evaluation.
  • Strong relationship-building capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Proactive, commercially focused, and results-oriented mindset.
  • Experience within Tourism, Travel, Hospitality, Contracting, Procurement, Supplier Management, or a related industry will be highly advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of the Sri Lankan hotel and tourism industry.
  • Ability to negotiate confidently with senior industry professionals and key suppliers.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple supplier relationships and contracting priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and reporting tools.
