Location: Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka Employment Type: Full Time Industry: Accounting Services / BPO / Finance & Accounting Outsourcing

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Bookkeeper to join a growing accounting and outsourced finance services team. The successful candidate will support bookkeeping, taxation, payroll, reconciliations, and management accounting functions while working with international clients, primarily within UK accounting environments. This role is ideal for an accounting professional looking to build international exposure and strengthen their expertise in bookkeeping, taxation, accounting software, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and accounting transactions.
  • Process and record accounting entries in accordance with accounting standards and client requirements.
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Prepare customer invoices and maintain debtor and creditor records.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
  • Record daily financial transactions and maintain General Ledger accuracy.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Support VAT-related activities and tax compliance processes.
  • Process payroll and maintain payroll records accurately.
  • Handle statutory contributions, social insurance payments, and related compliance requirements.
  • Maintain client financial records using accounting software platforms.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and available for reporting and review purposes.
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting activities.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of client deliverables.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling financial information.

Candidate Profile

  • Professional accounting qualification or part qualification such as AAT, ICASL, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • University Degree, HND, or part-completed qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • 1–2 years of experience, preferably within a UK accounting environment.
  • Previous exposure to UK accounting and taxation practices will be highly advantageous.
  • Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, IRIS, and TaxCalc.
  • Good understanding of bookkeeping principles, accounting transactions, VAT, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Comfortable working on UK shifts.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop within an international accounting environment.
