About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Garment Technologist to support garment development, fitting, testing, sampling, and production processes.

This role is responsible for ensuring the quality, fit, functionality, and manufacturability of garments by working closely with design, production, quality, and product development teams. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in garment construction, fit analysis, testing, and product development within the apparel manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design teams to understand garment specifications and technical requirements.
  • Develop garment prototypes and samples in line with design specifications, quality standards, and fit requirements.
  • Conduct fitting sessions and garment assessments to evaluate fit, comfort, construction, and functionality.
  • Ensure samples are delivered on time for customer approval and implement changes promptly based on feedback.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues relating to garment construction, fit, and performance.
  • Create and maintain accurate technical specifications, size charts, grading rules, and production documentation.
  • Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues relating to garment construction and quality.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to suppliers and manufacturers to ensure correct execution of garment production.
  • Develop and implement testing protocols and procedures for garment performance and durability.
  • Coordinate with testing laboratories to conduct fabric and garment testing for performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze test results and recommend product improvements or technical adjustments.
  • Collaborate with sustainability teams to identify environmentally responsible materials and production methods.
  • Support marketing and sales teams by communicating the technical features and benefits of garments.
  • Participate in cross-functional product development meetings and provide technical expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and ethical manufacturing practices.
  • Maintain records relating to garment specifications, testing results, approvals, and production processes.
  • Continuously improve garment construction techniques, fit standards, and product performance.

Key Deliverables

  • Ensure garment fit and construction comply with customer specifications.
  • Ensure timely sample submissions and approvals.
  • Achieve Sample Right First Time (RFT) targets.
  • Support continuous improvements in product quality and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Garment Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a similar technical role within the apparel manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of garment fit, construction, fabric selection, production techniques, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities to identify and resolve fit and construction-related challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with production teams, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within tight deadlines.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of customer specifications and quality requirements.
