WE ARE HIRING: Management Accountant

Location: Sri Lanka

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Management Accountant to provide accurate financial insights and support strategic decision-making through budgeting, forecasting, costing, financial analysis, and performance reporting.

The successful candidate will play a key role in financial planning, manufacturing cost analysis, business performance monitoring, and management reporting while working closely with operational departments and senior leadership to drive profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Management Reporting & Financial Analysis

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and performance reports.
  • Analyze actual performance against budgets, forecasts, and prior-period results.
  • Develop dashboards, KPI reports, and management information reports.
  • Ensure management reports are supported by accurate, reliable, and traceable data.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Coordinate annual budgeting exercises and periodic forecasting activities.
  • Monitor performance against budgets, standards, and KPIs.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and working capital analyses.
  • Support management in financial planning and business performance evaluation.

Costing & Profitability Analysis

  • Maintain and review standard costing systems, product costs, bills of materials, and overhead allocations.
  • Analyze material, labour, overhead, scrap, and rework variances.
  • Conduct profitability analysis by product, customer, order, project, or business segment.
  • Support pricing decisions, quotation evaluations, and make-or-buy analyses.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and margin improvement.

Inventory & Financial Controls

  • Monitor inventory valuation, provisions, and stock-related controls.
  • Support month-end closing activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
  • Strengthen internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Coordinate with operational departments to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Support internal and external audit activities.

Business Partnering

  • Work closely with Production, Procurement, Operations, Sales, and Management teams.
  • Review capital expenditure proposals and improvement projects.
  • Provide financial insights to support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Challenge unexplained variances and highlight potential financial risks.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance and business functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Full or part professional qualification in CIMA, ACCA, CA Sri Lanka, or an equivalent professional body will be preferred.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant accounting and finance experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong exposure to management accounting, costing, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing costing methodologies and variance analysis.
  • Experience in inventory accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strong financial modelling and business analysis skills.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and financial management software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, governance, and audit processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and commercial awareness.
