WE ARE HIRING: Manager / Assistant Manager – Key Accounts & Modern Trade

Location: Colombo (Field Based) Employment Type: Full Time Industry: FMCG / Retail Distribution

Role Overview

We are seeking a results-driven Manager / Assistant Manager – Key Accounts & Modern Trade to drive revenue growth, strengthen key customer relationships, and expand market presence across modern trade channels. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing key accounts, executing trade strategies, leading field teams, and ensuring effective sales execution to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop modern trade strategies to achieve revenue, distribution, market share, and profitability targets.
  • Manage key accounts and modern trade partners, including negotiations, product listings, promotions, and joint business plans (JBPs).
  • Execute trade promotions while ensuring in-store visibility, merchandising standards, and planogram compliance across outlets.
  • Monitor sales performance, stock levels, and sell-through, ensuring timely replenishment to avoid stock-outs and overstocking.
  • Coordinate with marketing, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure smooth operations and on-time deliveries.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, pricing strategies, and promotional effectiveness to identify growth opportunities.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and performance reports for management review and decision-making.
  • Manage a team of merchandisers and promotions assistants.
  • Drive on-ground field sales execution and ensure operational excellence across assigned channels.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience in Modern Trade Field Sales, preferably within retail and trading.
  • Proven track record of handling Key Accounts and achieving sales targets.
  • Strong knowledge of Modern Trade channels, retail operations, and distribution.
  • Proficiency in Sales Planning and Key Account Management.
  • Experience managing small teams such as Merchandisers and Sales Assistants will be an advantage.
  • Exposure to promotional campaigns and retail negotiations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strategic thinking with operational execution capability.
  • Adaptability to dynamic retail environments and customer demands.
  • Good English language skills.
  • Strong practical knowledge of modern trade operations.
  • Ability to manage field sales execution effectively.
