Role Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations, maintain accurate accounting records, and support effective financial management within a growing manufacturing and export-oriented organization.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily accounting activities, preparing financial and management reports, monitoring cash flow, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting financial planning and decision-making.

This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong financial expertise, analytical capabilities, and experience managing accounting operations in a dynamic business environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting transactions and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial information.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including supplier payments, customer collections, and outstanding balances.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial transactions and account balances.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, management accounts, and financial performance reports.
  • Monitor operational expenses, payment schedules, and cash flow to support effective financial management.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure proper classification and recording of financial transactions.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, financial forecasts, and periodic financial analysis reports.
  • Monitor budget utilization, identify financial variances, and provide relevant insights to management.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and supporting financial documentation.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing required schedules, reconciliations, and financial records.
  • Assist in preparing tax returns and ensuring compliance with applicable taxation and statutory accounting requirements in Sri Lanka.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation and ensure compliance with established accounting principles and company policies.
  • Review financial transactions to identify discrepancies and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting procedures, including reconciliations and financial closing activities.
  • Coordinate with banking institutions, auditors, tax consultants, and other financial stakeholders when required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and overall financial efficiency.
  • Provide financial information, reports, and analytical support to management for effective business decision-making.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualifications in CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, CIMA, or AAT will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, or Financial Reporting.
  • Experience within the Manufacturing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Export, or related industries will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and financial management practices.
  • Hands-on experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management.
  • Proven ability to prepare monthly financial statements, management accounts, and financial reports.
  • Familiarity with Sri Lankan taxation, statutory compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of cash flow management, expense monitoring, and financial reconciliations.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounting responsibilities while meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism when handling financial information.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with management and other departments.
  • Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to manage financial reporting deadlines and maintain accurate accounting records under pressure.
  • Willingness to coordinate with auditors, financial institutions, and relevant statutory authorities when required.
  • Strong commitment to financial accuracy, compliance, confidentiality, and continuous process improvement.
  • Ability to support management with financial analysis and operational accounting requirements.
