This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AVP, Clinical Intelligence based in United States.
This executive-level role will define the enterprise vision and long-term strategy for clinical intelligence and AI-enabled clinical decision-making. You will lead the development of scalable clinical intelligence products that translate medical evidence, guidelines, and data into actionable care pathways. The role combines clinical expertise, informatics, artificial intelligence, product strategy, and enterprise leadership. You will establish rigorous standards for clinical AI safety, evaluation, monitoring, and responsible human oversight. Working across payer and care delivery environments, you will influence major strategic decisions and drive measurable healthcare outcomes. You will lead multiple teams and senior leaders while shaping talent, investment, operating models, and enterprise priorities. Accountabilities
- Define and own the enterprise clinical intelligence vision, mission, strategy, and two-to-four-year roadmap.
- Lead multiple teams spanning clinical informatics, care pathways, clinical AI safety, and evaluation.
- Translate clinical guidelines, research, and evidence into configurable, scalable clinical pathways across conditions and populations.
- Partner with engineering, clinical, operational, and business leaders across payer and care delivery organizations to deliver clinical intelligence products against enterprise outcome targets.
- Establish and enforce enterprise standards governing AI-driven clinical actions, including pre-deployment testing, model and workflow monitoring, drift detection, and human-in-the-loop or human-on-the-loop processes.
- Provide executive leadership for clinical AI safety and decision-making areas involving regulatory, reputational, operational, and member-safety considerations.
- Lead workforce planning, organizational design, staffing, budgeting, resource allocation, talent decisions, and improvements to methods and operating practices.
- Build high-performing leadership teams, strengthen succession pipelines, and foster a culture of innovation, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Represent the clinical intelligence function in high-impact enterprise initiatives and provide strategic guidance on matters of significant organizational importance.
- Communicate complex clinical, technical, and strategic issues effectively to senior executives, governing bodies, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- MD, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree in data science, informatics, public health, a clinical discipline, or a related field.
- At least 15 years of relevant professional experience, with deep expertise in informatics, clinical intelligence, artificial intelligence, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 7 years of people-management experience, including leadership of leaders and multiple teams.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information and convert it into clear enterprise strategies that can be communicated and implemented effectively.
- Proven success influencing strategic decisions across payer and care delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare industry, its evolving external environment, and the operational realities of clinical care.
- Exceptional executive communication, strategic influence, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Ability to navigate complex and abstract problems, exercise independent judgment, and make sound decisions in ambiguous environments.
- Demonstrated passion for improving consumer healthcare experiences through innovation, evidence, technology, and responsible use of AI.
- Experience spanning insurance, primary care, pharmacy, home health, or other home-based care environments is preferred.
- Experience presenting to senior executives and governing bodies on high-impact enterprise matters is preferred.
- Demonstrated success building diverse, high-performing leadership teams and developing succession pipelines is preferred.
- Annual salary range of $246,100–$344,200, with actual compensation determined by factors such as location, experience, education, skills, and qualifications.
- Eligibility for a performance-based bonus incentive plan.
