The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Pricing Advisor based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in pricing large-group benefits plans within a dynamic insurance environment. You will be responsible for assessing risk, establishing competitive rates, and supporting decisions that drive sustainable profitability. You will work closely with Sales, Operations, and internal partners to respond to client needs and develop effective pricing solutions. The position combines financial analysis, risk management, negotiation, and relationship-building responsibilities. You will also contribute to new client implementations and the design of solutions for complex benefits structures. In a fast-paced environment, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise with less experienced colleagues while continuing to develop your own skills. The role is well suited to an analytical, strategic, and client-focused professional who can manage multiple priorities with autonomy.

Accountabilities

  • Establish rates and retention levels for new and existing group benefits plans while ensuring appropriate profitability targets are achieved.
  • Assess pricing risks and make sound decisions that balance financial discipline, risk management, and client needs.
  • Manage internal account activities and proactively respond to client requests related to pricing and benefit changes.
  • Prepare proposals and respond to questionnaires, including developing customized, value-added responses using tools such as Loopio.
  • Support new client implementations by developing complex plan structures and applications and coordinating administrative requirements with internal partners.
  • Negotiate contracts, financial arrangements, group benefits plan provisions, and service and performance-level agreements.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales teams to support business opportunities and provide pricing expertise.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of different group benefits plans and their associated responsibilities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational performance and contribute to long-term financial success.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues when appropriate.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders throughout the pricing process.
  • Previous professional experience in group benefits pricing or a closely related insurance pricing function.
  • Strong knowledge of the group benefits market, products, and services.
  • Postsecondary education, combined with strong business, mathematical, and analytical abilities.
  • Solid expertise in risk management and risk assessment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data manipulation and pivot tables, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with and support Sales teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex financial concepts.
  • Fluency in both French and English is preferred.
  • CEBS or GBA certification is considered an asset.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic and creative thinking, with the ability to develop solutions tailored to specific client needs.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong decision-making skills, balancing risk management, financial discipline, and customer needs.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical rigor, and results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate within an inclusive environment involving professionals with different levels of experience.
  • Base salary range of CAD $71,475–$119,125, depending on skills, experience, qualifications, education, and local market factors.
  • Opportunities for incentive compensation and performance-based rewards tied to individual and organizational performance.
  • Fully remote position within Canada.
  • Comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Mental health support, short- and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance.
  • Employee and family assistance programs.
  • Retirement savings programs, including pension plans and an employee share ownership program with employer matching contributions.
  • Financial education and advisory resources.
  • Paid time off including statutory holidays, vacation, personal days, sick leave, and legally required leaves.
  • Access to learning and professional development opportunities.
  • Flexible work environment focused on employee well-being, inclusion, recognition, and career growth.
  • Opportunities to contribute to global initiatives and shape your professional development.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
