This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Engenheiro de Software SR - Líder COE based in Brazil.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a software engineering professional to serve as a technical and people reference within a Center of Excellence (COE). The role combines hands-on engineering expertise with talent development, technical governance, and team composition. You will help establish engineering standards, frameworks, best practices, and technical roadmaps across diverse projects and client environments. The position also involves mentoring professionals, supporting career development, and identifying opportunities to strengthen technical capabilities. You will collaborate with stakeholders and client-facing teams to align engineering talent and solutions with project requirements. The role offers exposure to modern technologies, cloud environments, AI-assisted development, and large-scale technology initiatives. Advanced English or Spanish is required for collaboration with international and nearshore/LATAM teams.

Accountabilities

  • Lead the development and management of professionals within the software engineering discipline, supporting career progression, mentoring, continuous learning, and talent retention.
  • Serve as a technical reference for engineering teams, promoting knowledge sharing and helping professionals strengthen their technical capabilities.
  • Define, maintain, and disseminate software engineering standards, frameworks, methodologies, best practices, and technical guidelines.
  • Lead and structure the Development Center of Excellence, ensuring the team maintains relevant competencies and delivery capacity.
  • Build and monitor the technical roadmap for the discipline, identifying opportunities to adopt new technologies, tools, certifications, and engineering practices.
  • Support the adoption and evolution of internal AI-enabled development initiatives and modern software engineering practices.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, capacity analysis, and team composition, matching seniority and technical competencies with project requirements.
  • Work closely with client-facing teams and stakeholders to understand project needs and support appropriate technical staffing.
  • Contribute to technical proposals and pricing activities, including effort estimation, seniority assessment, and team composition.
  • Support technical discussions with stakeholders and contribute to solutions that balance engineering quality, business requirements, cost, and delivery feasibility.
  • Solid professional experience in software development, with strong expertise in either Back-end and/or Front-end engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one major technology stack, such as Java, .NET, Python, or Node.js/TypeScript, with the ability to operate in multi-stack environments.
  • Experience with REST APIs, microservices, integrations, and modern software architecture practices.
  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases and experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD, Clean Code, automated testing, Code Review, and contemporary software engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring technical teams and establishing engineering standards or technical governance processes.
  • Experience with pricing and preparation of technical proposals, including project effort estimation, seniority requirements, competencies, and team composition.
  • Experience with project sizing and capacity planning in complex technology environments.
  • Practical knowledge of AI-assisted software development, including code copilots, AI-assisted code generation, assisted refactoring, and prompt engineering.
  • Advanced English or Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with international clients, teams, and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to combine technical depth, people leadership, and business awareness when making engineering decisions.
  • Experience with mobile development, legacy modernization, large-scale environments, or technology transformation is considered an advantage.
