The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Red Team Security Engineer III based in United States.

This role focuses on advanced offensive security operations supporting critical cybersecurity missions. You will conduct penetration tests across global customer networks, assess applications and systems, and emulate sophisticated adversarial techniques to identify vulnerabilities. The position combines hands-on red teaming with rapid development of specialized tools and scripts designed to support authorized security assessments. You will research emerging exploitation techniques and threat vectors while helping design representative environments for testing and training. The role also includes supporting exercises, demonstrations, conferences, and technical capability development. Working in a high-pressure environment, you will manage multiple engagements while collaborating with technical teams, leadership, and external stakeholders.

Accountabilities:

  • Conduct penetration tests and authorized red team assessments across global customer networks, applications, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Apply structured security testing methodologies and industry standards throughout penetration testing engagements.
  • Research emerging threats, vulnerabilities, exploitation techniques, and adversarial approaches to strengthen assessment capabilities.
  • Rapidly develop domain- or problem-specific tools and scripts from concept through production to support authorized security testing activities.
  • Design and configure representative test environments for penetration testing, training events, demonstrations, and exercises.
  • Analyze network traffic using protocol analyzers and packet captures to identify and understand security-relevant activity.
  • Perform web application security assessments and evaluate vulnerabilities across application and network environments.
  • Use appropriate offensive security tooling and scripting capabilities to support authorized assessments.
  • Manage multiple penetration testing engagements simultaneously from planning through completion, maintaining quality, timelines, documentation, and deliverables.
  • Support training events, conferences, exercises, and demonstrations that maintain technical capabilities and certification requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with management, technical staff, vendors, and external consultants throughout security engagements.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including technical interviews, technical documentation, proposal development, and proposal reviews.
  • Maintain strong personal organization, project management, and communication across concurrent assignments.
  • Work effectively in high-stress, short-deadline, and resource-constrained environments while maintaining professional and technical standards.
  • Active Secret Clearance with eligibility to obtain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics-intensive disciplines, or another relevant technical field.
  • 5–8 years of practical experience, with relevant experience and qualifying education or certifications considered in accordance with the stated equivalency requirements.
  • Relevant offensive security credentials and experience, including OSCP with at least 3 years of practical experience, NSA Remote Interactive Operators Training (RIOT), or an accredited DoD Red Team Apprentice (Level I) certification.
  • CEH and CISSP certifications required upon hire.
  • Specialized experience in red teaming, Computer Network Attack (CNA), Computer Network Exploitation (CNE), Computer Network Defense (CND), penetration testing, or closely related offensive security disciplines.
  • Strong ability to independently develop tools and scripts rapidly using multiple programming languages in demanding operational environments.
  • Experience with at least one scripting language such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ruby, or Node.js.
  • Experience conducting web application security assessments and evaluating application vulnerabilities.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols as they relate to network security.
  • Experience with offensive security toolsets and penetration testing environments such as Kali Linux, Metasploit, Cobalt Strike, and intercepting proxies.
  • Experience using network protocol analyzers and sniffers and interpreting packet captures.
  • Strong independent working skills, including self-motivation, organization, prioritization, and personal project management.
  • Ability to think creatively and emulate adversarial approaches during authorized security assessments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with leadership, colleagues, vendors, and external consultants.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent penetration testing engagements from initiation through completion.
  • In-depth understanding of emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and exploits.
  • Ability to work primarily at a computer for extended periods and lift approximately 10–15 pounds when required.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 15–30% or less, depending on program requirements.
  • Salary range of $155,000–$175,000, with final compensation determined by relevant education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Opportunity to work on advanced red team and offensive cybersecurity missions.
  • Exposure to global network penetration testing, adversarial emulation, vulnerability research, and specialized security tooling.
  • Opportunities to support technical training, exercises, demonstrations, and cybersecurity conferences.
  • Professional development through continued technical capability building and certification-related activities.
  • Collaboration with experienced cybersecurity professionals across offensive security and related technical disciplines.
  • Opportunity to contribute to technical business development and strategic cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Travel of approximately 15–30% or less, depending on program needs.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
