The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Human Resources Manager based in United States.

This is a senior HR leadership opportunity focused on strengthening people, leadership, and organizational infrastructure during a period of continued growth. The role serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership while overseeing the full employee experience, from recruitment and onboarding through performance, development, employee relations, and compliance. You will build scalable HR systems, improve management practices, and help leaders navigate organizational change with clarity, empathy, and accountability. The position combines strategic HR leadership with hands-on work across investigations, compensation, benefits, leave administration, workforce planning, and employment law. You will play a central role in developing managers and supervisors, strengthening employee engagement, and creating a more consistent and effective workplace culture. This is a remote role based in California, with regular travel throughout the state to collaborate with leaders, support employees, and participate in meetings and events. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, trusted HR professional who enjoys building systems, coaching leaders, navigating complex situations, and leaving organizations stronger than they found them.

Accountabilities:

  • Serve as the senior Human Resources leader and trusted advisor to executive leadership, aligning HR strategy with organizational priorities and long-term sustainability.
  • Develop scalable HR systems, processes, policies, and practices that support organizational growth and improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Analyze workforce trends and recommend practical solutions across people, structure, communication, and employee practices.
  • Lead organizational change initiatives while helping leaders navigate change with transparency, confidence, empathy, and consistency.
  • Strengthen employee engagement, organizational culture, leadership capability, and continuous improvement across HR.
  • Design and implement leadership development programs, coaching managers and supervisors on communication, accountability, performance management, conflict resolution, documentation, and employee development.
  • Create practical leadership tools, learning opportunities, succession planning initiatives, and leadership pipeline strategies.
  • Conduct prompt, impartial, and thorough workplace investigations involving employee complaints, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, policy violations, and other sensitive matters.
  • Prepare investigation findings and recommendations and advise leaders on corrective action, employee relations, and organizational risk.
  • Lead recruitment strategies, partner with hiring managers, strengthen onboarding, and develop retention practices that attract and retain diverse, mission-driven talent.
  • Manage the performance management program, coaching leaders on expectations, feedback, documentation, performance concerns, and improvement plans.
  • Administer compensation and classification programs, conduct salary analysis, and recommend equitable compensation practices.
  • Oversee benefits administration and collaborate with vendors and brokers to maintain competitive and cost-effective programs.
  • Ensure compliant administration of leaves, disability management, reasonable accommodations, return-to-work processes, and workers’ compensation.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local employment law requirements, maintain HR policies and the employee handbook, and recommend responses to legislative changes.
  • Partner with legal counsel when appropriate and proactively reduce organizational risk through sound HR practices.
  • Strengthen employee experience through initiatives focused on respect, inclusion, accountability, collaboration, communication, recognition, and continuous learning.
  • Preserve a culture of humility and community while supporting increasingly consistent and professional management practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Public Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience with broad generalist responsibilities.
  • Significant experience conducting complex workplace investigations and managing sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational change, culture transformation, and organizational development initiatives.
  • Experience coaching managers, developing supervisors, and strengthening leadership capabilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment law, including wage and hour requirements, ADA, FEHA, FMLA, CFRA, workers’ compensation, and employee relations.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to navigate difficult conversations with confidence and empathy.
  • Ability to advise both first-time supervisors and executive leaders while building trust before recommending solutions.
  • Strategic and practical mindset with the ability to create systems that improve organizational effectiveness.
  • SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or PHR certification is preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish capability is preferred.
  • Experience building or modernizing HR functions during periods of organizational growth is preferred.
  • Ability to balance compassion and accountability while maintaining consistent, fair, and professional HR practices.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment and traveling throughout California as required.
  • $85,000–$100,000 annual compensation.
  • Regular, full-time employment at 40 hours per week.
  • Remote position based in California.
  • Opportunity to serve as the senior HR leader with significant influence on organizational strategy and culture.
  • Broad ownership across employee relations, talent acquisition, leadership development, performance management, total rewards, compliance, and organizational development.
  • Opportunity to build and modernize HR systems during a period of organizational growth.
  • Regular collaboration with executive leadership, managers, and supervisors across the organization.
  • Meaningful opportunity to strengthen leadership capability, employee experience, and organizational culture.
  • Regular travel throughout California for meetings, collaboration, and organizational events.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
