This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Linux System Engineer based in the United States.
This role sits within an infrastructure team supporting a fast-growing, high-availability platform used by enterprise clients worldwide. You’ll help define and implement AWS and cloud infrastructure best practices while maintaining secure, stable, and highly available environments. The position combines hands-on systems engineering, automation, monitoring, security, networking, and infrastructure improvement. You’ll work closely with internal Operations teams while also serving as a technical point of contact for clients and third-party vendors. The role requires a proactive approach to complex technical challenges and ownership from investigation through resolution. You’ll also contribute to upgrades, releases, configuration changes, and the continuous evolution of production infrastructure. The position is remote within North America, with participation in an on-call rotation for priority-1 incidents.
Accountabilities:
- Work closely with the Operations team to maintain, scale, and improve production infrastructure.
- Install, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and software across infrastructure environments.
- Develop scripts and automation to streamline recurring jobs and operational processes.
- Own the security, stability, availability, and uptime of production, staging, and development environments.
- Monitor systems and respond to alerts and incidents as part of day-to-day operations.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for priority-1 alerts alongside the broader Operations team.
- Maintain network, server, and storage assets across cloud environments.
- Drive infrastructure upgrades, improvements, and operational process enhancements.
- Contribute to application and infrastructure release planning and configuration changes.
- Act as a technical point of contact for internal teams, clients, and third-party vendors.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues while communicating technical details clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- 7+ years of experience in Linux system administration supporting production environments.
- Experience with Debian or Debian-based Linux distributions is a plus.
- Scripting experience in at least one language, such as Bash, Python, or PHP.
- Strong understanding of the LAMP/LEMP stack.
- Experience with networking and security concepts.
- Experience deploying and debugging complex applications.
- Experience with MySQL database administration.
- Experience managing mail servers, particularly PowerMTA, including mail deliverability and troubleshooting.
- Experience with cloud-based services and virtualization.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across complex infrastructure environments.
- Ability to communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to non-technical clients and stakeholders.
- Comfortable working collaboratively while taking ownership of technical problems through to resolution.
- Proactive mindset with an interest in continuous infrastructure improvement.
