ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Software / Web Engineer to build fast, accessible, reliable web experiences for our users and creators. This role combines hands-on front-end development with production engineering. You will build responsive web applications, integrate APIs and authentication, improve performance and accessibility, and work closely with platform engineering to deploy and operate applications on AWS. You will have ownership across the development lifecycle—from writing and testing code to deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

MISSION

Build high-quality web experiences and deploy them reliably on AWS using secure, maintainable software and engineering practices.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

WEB APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

- Build responsive, accessible web applications and reusable UI components.

- Develop features using modern JavaScript/TypeScript and front-end frameworks.

- Integrate APIs, authentication, analytics, and third-party services.

- Translate product and design requirements into production-ready experiences.

- Ensure consistent behavior across supported browsers and devices.

- Improve front-end performance, reliability, and usability.

TESTING & QUALITY

- Test critical user journeys across browsers, devices, and network conditions.

- Identify and resolve browser compatibility issues.

- Implement automated tests for important functionality and user workflows.

- Validate accessibility, performance, and functional requirements.

- Investigate production issues and help identify root causes.

- Reduce recurring defects through improved testing and engineering practices.

AWS & PRODUCTION ENGINEERING

- Deploy and maintain web applications in AWS environments.

- Work closely with Platform/SRE engineers on hosting and operational readiness.

- Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues in production.

- Manage application configuration and environment-specific settings.

- Monitor application health, errors, and performance.

- Participate in deployment and rollback processes.

- Help establish reliable, repeatable CI/CD workflows.

ENGINEERING PRACTICES

- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code.

- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards.

- Follow secure development practices and protect credentials and user data.

- Document technical decisions and operational procedures.

- Participate in a defined production-support rotation as needed.

- Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, QA, Security, and Platform Engineering.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of professional experience developing production web applications.

- Strong knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.

- Experience with a modern front-end framework such as React, Vue, Angular, or similar.

- Experience building responsive, accessible web applications.

- Hands-on experience integrating APIs and authentication systems.

- Experience with browser security and common web application security practices.

- Experience writing and maintaining automated tests.

- Strong Git and CI/CD experience.

- Hands-on experience deploying and troubleshooting applications in AWS.

- An active AWS certification is required.

- AWS Certified Developer – Associate is preferred.

- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

AI-ASSISTED DEVELOPMENT

We use modern AI tools to accelerate software development. The right candidate should be comfortable using AI-assisted and agentic coding tools as part of their engineering workflow while maintaining strong technical judgment.

You should be able to:

- Develop software both with and without AI coding assistants.

- Independently design, write, debug, test, and maintain production code.

- Use coding assistants and agentic development tools effectively.

- Review and validate AI-generated code before it reaches production.

- Identify potential security, reliability, and maintainability issues in AI-generated implementations.

- Remain accountable for the correctness and quality of all delivered code.

- Protect proprietary code, credentials, customer information, and other sensitive data when using AI tools.

NICE TO HAVE

- Experience with AWS services such as ECS, S3, CloudFront, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, or similar.

- Experience with infrastructure-as-code or deployment automation.

- Experience with web performance optimization and Core Web Vitals.

- Experience with accessibility standards such as WCAG.

- Experience with observability, application monitoring, and error tracking.

- Experience working with consumer, social, creator, media, or subscription products.

- Experience collaborating with mobile engineering teams.

- Experience with analytics and product instrumentation.

12–18 MONTH GOALS

Success in this role will include:

- Delivering priority web experiences against agreed requirements and acceptance criteria.

- Improving page performance, accessibility, and production reliability against established baselines.

- Establishing tested and repeatable AWS deployment processes with reliable rollback capabilities.

- Increasing automated test coverage for critical functionality.

- Reducing recurring browser, integration, and production defects.

- Improving visibility into application health, errors, and performance.

FIRST 90 DAYS

DAYS 1–30: LEARN & BASELINE

- Understand the existing web architecture and application stack.

- Become familiar with AWS environments and deployment processes.

- Review current monitoring, error tracking, and CI/CD workflows.

- Establish baseline measurements for performance, accessibility, and production errors.

- Identify key technical and product improvement opportunities.

DAYS 31–60: BUILD & IMPROVE

- Ship an agreed web improvement from development through production.

- Add or improve automated tests for critical functionality.

- Validate deployment and rollback procedures.

- Address identified performance, accessibility, or reliability issues.

- Collaborate with Platform/SRE to improve operational readiness.

DAYS 61–90: OPTIMIZE & SCALE

- Improve a key user journey based on measurable product or technical goals.

- Resolve a significant performance, reliability, or usability bottleneck.

- Contribute improvements to CI/CD, monitoring, testing, or deployment practices.

- Establish a roadmap for continued web and production improvements.

REPORTING & COLLABORATION

- Reports directly to the Head of Engineering as an individual contributor.

- Works closely with Product, Design, Backend, QA, Security, and Platform Engineering.

- Partners with the Principal Platform Engineer on AWS infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, and operational readiness.

- Participates in code reviews and shared engineering practices.

WHY JOIN?

This role gives you the opportunity to work across both product-facing web development and cloud infrastructure.

You’ll build experiences that directly impact users while also gaining ownership of how those applications are deployed, monitored, and operated in production.

If you enjoy building polished web applications, solving technical problems, working with AWS, and seeing your code make it all the way from development to production, this role offers meaningful ownership and impact.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

The numbers game
