Location: Remote – Latin America Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Product Lead / Product Engineer / COO

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a UI/UX Engineer who can bridge product design and front-end development to create intuitive, accessible, and polished digital experiences.

In this role, you will take product problems from discovery through implementation—understanding user needs, mapping workflows, designing interfaces, building reusable components, and validating the final experience in production.

You will work closely with product leadership and engineering to ensure designs are not only visually polished, but also practical to build, accessible, performant, and maintainable.

Success in this role means users can complete important tasks with less friction, the product feels consistent across experiences, and the team can efficiently deliver high-quality features.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PRODUCT & USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN

- Translate business goals and user needs into clear user journeys, workflows, and interaction designs.

- Identify usability issues and product friction through user feedback, usability testing, analytics, and collaboration with internal teams.

- Create wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready designs for new features and product improvements.

- Design complete user experiences, including loading, empty, error, success, and recovery states.

- Explain design decisions and evaluate alternatives based on user needs, technical constraints, and business priorities.

- Balance user experience, technical feasibility, and delivery requirements when making design decisions.

UI DESIGN & DESIGN SYSTEMS

- Create consistent, polished interfaces across supported devices and screen sizes.

- Develop and maintain reusable patterns for typography, spacing, navigation, forms, colors, and interactions.

- Build and maintain reusable UI components.

- Keep design components and implemented components aligned.

- Document component behavior, usage guidelines, and accessibility requirements.

- Partner with engineering to reduce one-off solutions and improve consistency across the product.

FRONT-END DEVELOPMENT

- Build responsive interfaces and reusable components using modern front-end technologies.

- Translate approved designs into high-quality, production-ready code.

- Integrate interfaces with APIs in collaboration with application and backend engineers.

- Write clean, maintainable code and participate in pull-request reviews.

- Validate implementation against approved designs, acceptance criteria, and intended user experience.

- Troubleshoot usability, browser compatibility, accessibility, and front-end performance issues.

- Collaborate with mobile engineers to maintain a consistent experience across web and native applications.

ACCESSIBILITY & PRODUCT QUALITY

- Incorporate accessibility throughout the design and development process.

- Consider keyboard navigation, focus management, semantic HTML, color contrast, responsive behavior, and assistive technologies.

- Test important user journeys across supported devices and browsers.

- Implement appropriate automated checks for critical interactions and reusable components.

- Conduct usability reviews before release and evaluate feedback after launch.

- Ensure delivered experiences meet both functional and design requirements.

- Remain accountable for reviewing and validating all delivered work, including work produced with AI-assisted development tools.

COLLABORATION & SHARED OWNERSHIP

- Work with product leadership to define scope, priorities, success measures, and acceptance criteria.

- Review proposed experiences with engineers before implementation to identify dependencies and technical constraints.

- Present designs and implementations regularly and incorporate actionable feedback.

- Collaborate with backend, platform, mobile, and product teams throughout the development lifecycle.

- Maintain designs, code, documentation, and supporting assets in company-controlled systems.

- Ensure work is documented clearly enough for other designers and engineers to understand, maintain, and extend.

HOW PROJECTS ARE PLANNED & REVIEWED

Major projects typically begin with a short design brief or RFC covering:

- The user problem and intended business outcome

- Target users and key workflows

- Scope and exclusions

- Proposed experience and alternatives considered

- Technical dependencies and estimated effort

- Milestones and delivery expectations

- Acceptance criteria

- Accessibility requirements

- Validation and testing plans

- Release measurement and documentation requirement

Designs are reviewed before substantial implementation begins. Code changes follow the team’s pull-request process, and completed work is evaluated against both functional and user-experience requirements before acceptance. Smaller improvements may follow a lighter ticket-and-review process.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Portfolio demonstrating both product design decisions and shipped digital experiences.

- Experience taking a feature from a user problem through design, implementation, launch, and iteration.

- Strong understanding of interaction design and visual design principles.

- Proficiency with Figma or comparable design and prototyping tools.

- Strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript skills.

- Experience with a modern front-end framework such as React, Vue, or similar.

- Experience building responsive interfaces and reusable component systems.

- Working knowledge of accessibility standards and practical usability-testing methods.

- Experience working with Git, version control, code reviews, and shared documentation.

- Ability to communicate design and technical trade-offs clearly.

- Comfortable receiving feedback and iterating on work.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within agreed scope and timelines.

AI-ASSISTED DEVELOPMENT

We use modern AI tools to accelerate product development. The right candidate should be comfortable incorporating AI-assisted development into their workflow while maintaining strong engineering and design judgment.

You should be able to:

- Use AI coding assistants and agentic development tools effectively.

- Review and validate AI-generated code rather than relying on it without verification.

- Identify usability, accessibility, security, and maintainability issues in AI-assisted implementations.

- Ensure AI-generated interfaces and components remain consistent with the established design system.

- Maintain accountability for the quality and correctness of all delivered work.

- Protect proprietary code, credentials, customer information, and other sensitive data when using AI tools.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

- Consumer-facing social, creator, media, community, or subscription products.

- Mobile-first product experiences.

- Collaboration with native iOS and Android engineering teams.

- Onboarding, content discovery, publishing, engagement, or monetization workflows.

- Design-system development and component documentation.

- Product analytics and experimentation.

- Front-end performance optimization.

- Experience working in fast-moving product environments.

INITIAL PRIORITIES – FIRST 90 DAYS

During the first 90 days, priorities will be aligned with the product roadmap. Expected outcomes include:

- Assess priority user journeys and identify key usability and consistency issues.

- Create an inventory of existing design patterns and front-end components.

- Deliver at least one agreed product improvement from initial design through production.

- Establish an initial set of documented, reusable components and interaction patterns.

- Help establish a repeatable process for design review, usability validation, and implementation acceptance.

- Identify opportunities to improve consistency, accessibility, and maintainability across the product.

HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED

Success will be evaluated through a combination of user outcomes, product quality, implementation quality, and delivery effectiveness.

Key indicators include:

- Improved completion rates and reduced friction in targeted user journeys.

- Delivery against agreed scope, milestones, and acceptance criteria.

- Consistency between approved designs and production behavior.

- Accessibility and usability of delivered experiences.

- Adoption and reuse of shared components.

- Maintainable front-end implementation.

- Effective collaboration across Product and Engineering.

- Clear and complete design and technical documentation.

Project-specific targets will be established using available baseline data.

SCOPE & WORKING EXPECTATIONS

This role combines product design with hands-on front-end development.

- Product leadership sets business priorities, while backend and platform engineers provide support for services, infrastructure, APIs, and production operations.

- Native mobile implementation may be included depending on the candidate’s demonstrated skills and project requirements.

- Brand campaigns, marketing creative, and dedicated user-research programs are scoped separately from this role.

- The UI/UX Engineer works within a shared design and engineering review process and contributes to a product that the broader team can understand, maintain, and continuously improve.

WHY JOIN?

This role offers the opportunity to have meaningful ownership over both how a product looks and how it works.

You won’t simply hand designs to engineering—you’ll help shape the experience, build the interface, validate it with users, and see your work reach production.

You’ll work across product design, front-end engineering, accessibility, design systems, and user experience while collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to build experiences that are intuitive, scalable, and genuinely useful.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
