The posting

Description

At RestaurantSupply.com and Johnson-Lancaster, our mission is to help customers save time and money when purchasing commercial kitchen equipment and supplies by leveraging our industry buying power and delivering a customer-centric experience.

We are seeking a results-driven Strategic Sourcing / Purchasing Manager to lead supplier negotiations, optimize purchasing costs, and drive measurable savings across a significant annual purchasing spend. This role will work directly with vendors and manufacturers to negotiate competitive pricing, improve commercial terms, strengthen supplier relationships, and identify opportunities to improve profitability.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of negotiating large-scale purchasing agreements, managing complex vendor relationships, and delivering meaningful cost savings. Experience managing or supporting $100 million or more in annual purchasing spend across multiple vendors is required. Candidates with strong strategic procurement and negotiation experience are encouraged to apply, even if their background is outside the commercial foodservice industry.

This is an opportunity for a commercially minded procurement professional who can translate negotiation results into measurable business impact. Performance will be rewarded through a tiered bonus structure tied to company savings.

Skills and Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience managing or supporting $100 million or more in annual purchasing spend across multiple vendors or supplier categories.
  • Proven track record negotiating large-scale vendor agreements, purchasing contracts, volume discounts, and favorable commercial terms.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify cost-reduction opportunities and deliver measurable, documented savings.
  • Experience developing and maintaining strategic vendor relationships and negotiating directly with suppliers, manufacturers, or their representatives.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing costs, pricing structures, contract terms, and the financial impact of negotiated savings.
  • Experience evaluating supplier proposals, comparing pricing, analyzing purchasing data, and identifying opportunities to improve costs.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Experience with procurement, purchasing, ERP, sourcing, or other business systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple supplier relationships and negotiations simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining accountability for results and communicating progress to stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in strategic sourcing, category management, procurement, or large-scale purchasing operations.
  • Experience negotiating multi-million-dollar vendor agreements or managing high-spend supplier categories.
  • Background in distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, e-commerce, or other high-volume purchasing environments.
  • Experience in commercial foodservice equipment or supplies.
  • Familiarity with AutoQuotes or similar quoting and pricing platforms.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage and optimize supplier relationships across significant annual purchasing spend, identifying opportunities to improve pricing, commercial terms, and overall purchasing value.
  • Lead negotiations with vendors and manufacturers to secure competitive pricing, volume discounts, rebates, and other cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze purchasing spend, supplier pricing, and historical costs to identify savings opportunities and prioritize high-impact negotiations.
  • Develop negotiation strategies based on purchasing volume, supplier performance, competitive pricing, market conditions, and business needs.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals and compare pricing, contract terms, and other commercial considerations to support informed purchasing decisions.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements and pricing arrangements that support company profitability while maintaining appropriate quality, service, and delivery expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to support favorable long-term agreements and continued opportunities for cost improvement.
  • Partner with leadership, purchasing, sales, finance, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and align sourcing decisions with company objectives.
  • Track negotiated savings, pricing improvements, rebates, and other financial benefits to measure the impact of supplier negotiations.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and accounting to ensure negotiated pricing and commercial terms are accurately reflected in purchasing transactions and that applicable rebates or credits are received.
  • Maintain accurate records of vendor agreements, pricing arrangements, negotiation outcomes, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor supplier pricing and market conditions to identify opportunities for renegotiation and ongoing cost optimization.
  • Report on purchasing spend, realized savings, supplier performance, and progress against established cost-reduction goals.
  • Continuously improve sourcing strategies, vendor management practices, and purchasing processes to strengthen cost control and operational efficiency.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $60,000–$75,000 USD annually.
  • Performance-based bonus: Opportunity to earn up to 50% of base salary through a three-tier incentive structure tied to company savings and performance results.
  • Bonus eligibility and payout are subject to the company's established incentive plan and performance criteria.

Why Work With Us?

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
