The posting

SteadyState Work Partners | Austin/Central Texas Part-Time | Assignment-Based | $50/hour

What We Do

SteadyState Work Partners is a human capital consulting firm specializing in human capital risk mitigation.

We work with organizations when a valuable person's Heat-of-the-Moment actions or inaction are creating business consequences—and knowing better hasn't been enough to stop it.

Our proprietary TAU Core™ intervention develops the I Caught Myself Reflex™: the ability to interrupt an automatic reaction before it becomes consequential action or inaction.

The Role

The Lead TAU Facilitator delivers the participant-facing intervention.

This is an experiential facilitation role—not a classroom training, coaching, counseling, or therapy role.

TAU Core™ is delivered in cohorts of up to five participants through a three-week remote Preparation/Observation period followed by six structured in-person sessions delivered outdoors in changing natural environments.

The facilitator creates and maintains the conditions that allow participants to have their own experience.

You will not tell participants what they should discover.

Core Responsibilities

Participant Preparation

  • Assist with remote Preparation/Observation work before in-person delivery.
  • Establish clear expectations and program boundaries.
  • Prepare participants for the structure of the field experience.
  • Review participant readiness information as required.

Outdoor Facilitation

  • Deliver six structured TAU Core™ outdoor sessions.
  • Facilitate progressively variable experiences in natural environments.
  • Maintain the intended structure while allowing real-world conditions to change.
  • Observe participant actions and inaction without unnecessarily directing the experience.
  • Maintain appropriate facilitator boundaries.
  • Coordinate with the Field Operations Safety Lead throughout field delivery.

Participant Integration

  • Facilitate structured participant reflection via the private participant online portal.
  • Support participants in analyzing their own experiences and event data.
  • Maintain focus on the participant's observations rather than supplying interpretations for them.
  • Support transition from the outdoor experience into subsequent real-world application.

Documentation & Program Integrity

  • Complete required participant and program documentation.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion.
  • Follow SteadyState delivery standards and operating procedures.
  • Protect the integrity and consistency of the TAU Core™ intervention.
  • Communicate relevant operational concerns to SteadyState leadership.

What You Will Not Do

You will not:

  • Provide therapy.
  • Provide counseling.
  • Diagnose participants.
  • Conduct clinical assessments.
  • Tell participants what their reactions mean.
  • Supply the participant's insight for them.
  • Turn the experience into a lecture.
  • Lead motivational programming.
  • Facilitate group discussions or personal disclosure within the group.
  • Ask participants to publicly share personal experiences.

This is not about producing the “right” answer.

The participant does the work. You protect the conditions in which the work can happen.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and absolute discretion in a high-trust environment is a must (non-negotiable)
  • Experience facilitating structured learning, experiential learning, professional programs, or other participant-centered experiences.
  • Strong observational skills.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow a defined intervention while responding appropriately to changing conditions.
  • Ability to remain composed during uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Ability to resist over-directing, over-explaining, or solving the experience for participants.
  • Strong professional boundaries.
  • Ability to work effectively with accomplished professionals and organizational clients.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in natural terrain.
  • Ability to travel to field locations in the Austin/Central Texas area.
  • Willingness to complete SteadyState facilitator preparation and qualification requirements.

Preferred Backgrounds

Experience in one or more of the following:

  • Adult learning and facilitation
  • Experiential learning
  • Leadership development
  • Organizational development
  • Human performance/kinesiology
  • Process improvement
  • Organizational change
  • Professional services
  • Learning and development
  • Structured capability-development programs

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to:

  • Walk and hike for extended periods over uneven natural terrain.
  • Work outdoors in changing Central Texas weather conditions.
  • Navigate inclines, loose surfaces, rocks, vegetation, and other natural terrain.
  • Remain outdoors for the duration of field sessions.
  • Travel to field locations in the Austin/Central Texas area.

Ideal Candidate

You are:

  • Calm.
  • Grounded.
  • Curious.
  • Observant.
  • Patient.
  • Precise.
  • Comfortable with silence.
  • Comfortable not knowing what a participant will do next.
  • Able to maintain structure without controlling the experience.
  • Able to notice without immediately interpreting.
  • Able to resist the urge to rescue, teach, explain, or supply the answer.
  • Comfortable allowing another person to do their own work.

You understand that excellent facilitation is not measured by how much the facilitator says.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do is not interfere with what is already happening.

Compensation & Assignment Structure

This is a part-time, assignment-based position supporting scheduled TAU Core™ engagements.

Compensation: $50 per hour.

Assignments are scheduled in advance and may include remote participant work, preparation, in-person outdoor delivery, documentation, and other required engagement activities.

In-person, outdoor sessions occur primarily during morning hours.

Where You Will Work

This is a hybrid role.

Remote portions of TAU Core™ are conducted virtually. In-person, outdoor delivery takes place in natural environments in the Austin/Central Texas area.

Field locations may vary based on program requirements and approved sites.

Selection Process

Qualified candidates may be invited to:

  1. An Initial Conversation.
  2. A structured Final Interview focused on facilitation judgment, professional experience, and the responsibilities of the role.

The selection process may also include a field-based assessment. Selected facilitators must successfully complete SteadyState's paid facilitator preparation and qualification process before independently delivering TAU Core™.

The Standard

The facilitator is not there to be impressive. The facilitator is there to protect the structure, observe carefully, know when to act, and know when not to.

The participant's experience belongs to the participant.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
