Make Your Mark as an Assistant Accountant at Storio group

About the role

As an Assistant Accountant, you support the delivery of accurate financial reporting and month end close activities across all group entities. Working closely with the Financial Controllers, you apply professional accounting knowledge to prepare, analyse, and reconcile financial information. You ensure full compliance with Group Accounting Policies, IFRS, and statutory requirements, while exercising sound judgement within established accounting frameworks.

The finance team delivers critical reporting schedules, maintains balance sheet integrity, and provides reliable data that supports business decisions. In this position, you contribute directly to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls. You take ownership of core closing tasks, helping the team maintain high standards of reporting accuracy across every entity.

How you embrace curiosity daily

  • Prepare and post month end journals, accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset accounting entries compliant with Group Accounting Policies and IFRS.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and key balance sheet accounts, investigate reconciling items, resolve discrepancies, and escalate complex issues to the Financial Controller.
  • Complete inventory reconciliations, investigate inventory variances, and recommend appropriate accounting adjustments to support accurate inventory valuation.
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany balances, investigating differences and working collaboratively with finance colleagues across entities prior to Group close.
  • Prepare Group close schedules, support consolidation activities, and deliver accurate submissions in accordance with reporting timetables.
  • Review accounting transactions for accuracy and completeness, identify errors, recommend corrective actions, and support improvements to internal controls.
  • Prepare audit schedules, statutory reporting documentation, and tax information, responding directly to auditor queries on time.

How you make your mark

  • Deliver accurate, complete financial submissions for month end and year end reporting across all assigned entities.
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity by resolving outstanding items and unexpected movements within agreed timetables.
  • Automate recurring balance sheet reconciliation templates and streamline manual closing routines within the approved control framework.
  • Provide clean audit schedules and well organised supporting documentation to ensure smooth external audits.
  • Act as a dependable source of truth by handling sensitive financial data with total discretion.
  • Identify control gaps and implement practical fixes that strengthen overall financial governance.

What you bring to the team

  • One to three years of accounting experience within a financial accounting, reporting, or audit environment.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, double entry bookkeeping, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and financial reporting workflows.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and SUMIFS for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Practical experience working with mainstream enterprise accounting systems, preferably Oracle.
  • Proven ability to manage tight reporting deadlines during month end closing cycles with high attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain financial figures to non finance stakeholders.

What sets you apart

  • A Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or active study toward a recognised qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, or CIMA.
  • Second language skills in German, French, or Dutch.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
