Make Your Mark as an Financial Controller NL at Storio group

About the role

As Financial Controller NL, you take complete ownership of statutory reporting, financial control, and close cycles for all Dutch legal entities. Working with great autonomy, you serve as the trusted technical authority on Dutch accounting, ensuring our statements remain accurate, fully compliant with IFRS and Group Accounting Policies, and supported by a strong control environment. You partner with finance colleagues and cross-functional teams across our group, providing clarity on complex transactions and ensuring revenue, costs, and assets are recognized properly every month.

Your daily dedication protects our financial health and ensures our business decisions rest on solid ground. Sitting at the heart of our regional operations, you bring consistency, rigor, and strategic guidance to local reporting while connecting local operations directly with our central European reporting structure. The accurate financial foundation you build gives our wider organization the confidence to invest in new creative products, expand our manufacturing capabilities, and help millions of customers preserve their happiest moments.

How you embrace curiosity daily

  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities for all Dutch entities, ensuring full compliance with Group Accounting Policies and IFRS.
  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and bank reconciliations while resolving significant variances before closing.
  • Oversee inventory valuation, costing, and reserves while partnering with operations on physical counts and cycle count reconciliations.
  • Manage accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue, and fixed asset accounting, including depreciation schedules, impairment reviews, and capital expenditure assessments.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and translate Group Accounting Policies into clear local statutory and tax treatments.
  • Direct external audit engagements for Dutch entities, partnering closely with Tax and Treasury on statutory compliance, corporate reporting, and weekly cash flow data.
  • Work with the Accounting Service Centre to guide accounts payable and receivable workflows, resolve transaction issues, and strengthen core accounting processes.

How you make your mark

  • Safeguard the total financial integrity of our Dutch entities by maintaining a flawless audit record and robust internal control systems.
  • Spot emerging balance sheet risks and accounting challenges six months ahead, giving leadership actionable insights before issues arise.
  • Redesign and automate the Dutch month-end close workflow in Oracle, removing manual reconciliation steps to speed up completion times.
  • Partner with FP&A and operational leaders, offering sharp technical insights that improve business forecasting, capital allocation, and commercial decision-making.
  • Set precedents for Dutch accounting treatments that our centralized European reporting teams can reliably reference.
  • Champion process automation within finance software to eliminate repetitive tasks and increase daily reporting efficiency.

What you bring to the team

  • Substantial progressive accounting experience, ideally starting in a major audit practice and advancing through a multinational corporate environment.
  • Deep practical knowledge of IFRS and Dutch statutory reporting standards.
  • Hands-on experience managing end-to-end month-close cycles, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory valuation, and fixed assets.
  • Working background with enterprise ERP platforms, ideally Oracle Fusion, alongside advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
  • Clear communication skills with a proven track record of explaining complex accounting requirements to non-finance stakeholders.
  • A professional accounting credential such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA.

What sets you apart

  • A formal academic degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional working proficiency in the Dutch language.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
