Fixed Term Procurement Administrator(Glasgow)
Location: Glasgow Contract: Fixed-term until 31 March 2027(Full time position) Start Date: ASAP Salary: £28,000 per annum
Role Purpose To provide day-to-day administrative support to the Procurement team, helping the team process purchasing activities efficiently and maintain smooth communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with issuing RFQs (Requests for Quotation) to suppliers and processing quotations and purchase orders.
- Support the registration and onboarding of new suppliers.
- Assist with payment-related matters, including liaising with suppliers and internal Finance colleagues where required.
- Provide general administrative support to the Procurement team, including arranging meetings, supplier/client visits and other departmental activities.
- Maintain procurement records and documentation as required.
- Provide other reasonable administrative support to the Procurement team during busy periods.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in administration, procurement support, purchasing or a similar office-based role would be beneficial.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and confidence working with internal colleagues and external suppliers.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a busy working environment.
- Some flexibility to work additional hours during particularly busy periods would be beneficial.

About our project in Port of Nigg, Highland
Sumitomo Electric is one of the leading global manufacturers of state-of-the-art high-end electricity transmission cables, up to and including 525kV HVDC(High Voltage Direct Current) cable. The new factory at Nigg, with investment value announced by the Scottish Government of £350M, will make a significant contribution towards realisation of the UK Net Zero Target by contributing to critical electricity transmission infrastructure to connect and deliver renewable energy, including offshore wind, to UK consumers and beyond. In addition, the factory will create more than 150 highly skilled jobs in the Scottish Highlands, with maximum utilisation of the local supply chain for production of cables and construction of transmission cable systems.
In a significant boost for the UK green energy supply chain, Sumitomo Electric has commenced construction of its state-of-the-art subsea transmission cable factory in the Scottish Highlands. The factory will supply critical elements for the reinforcement of the UK electricity transmission grid and for connecting renewable energy production facilities to the grid.
