Job Description

Are you passionate about creating smarter workflows and making technology work better for people?

Join Syngenta in Durham, NC, as an Enterprise Application Engineer, where you’ll develop, optimize, and connect enterprise platforms supporting our Seeds Research & Development (R&D) teams. You’ll collaborate across engineering, application, data, and support teams to simplify processes, automate workflows, and deliver innovative technology solutions that help move our business forward.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, configure, and support Jira and ServiceNow solutions that enable Seeds R&D engineering, application, data, and support teams.
  • Develop and enhance ServiceNow capabilities, including Service Catalog, request forms, RITMs, catalog tasks, Flow Designer, scripts, custom tables, and CMDB.
  • Configure and optimize Jira workflows, issue types, fields, permissions, hierarchies, components, boards, filters, dashboards, reporting, and automation.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into effective platform designs, configurations, development tasks, acceptance criteria, and test plans.
  • Design, develop, and support integrations between Jira, ServiceNow, AWS, Snowflake, Active Directory, and other enterprise systems using REST APIs.
  • Establish and implement platform standards that improve workflow efficiency, application onboarding, support routing, reporting, and lifecycle management.
  • Manage assigned enhancements through development, testing, deployment, production validation, documentation, and ongoing support.
  • Troubleshoot complex workflow, configuration, access, data, and integration issues while coordinating solutions with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, communicate progress and risks, provide technical guidance, and share knowledge to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise application development, platform engineering, workflow automation, service-management technology, or application-platform support.
  • Hands-on ServiceNow development and configuration experience, including Service Catalog, Flow Designer, scripting, custom tables, CMDB, and update sets.
  • Experience configuring and administering Jira workflows, issue types, fields, permissions, hierarchies, components, boards, dashboards, reporting, and automation.
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting REST API integrations across enterprise applications and services.
  • Experience translating technical requirements into solutions and managing changes through development, testing, production release, validation, and rollback processes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work independently, coordinate dependencies, and proactively escalate risks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or Certified Application Developer (CAD) certification.
  • Atlassian Jira administration certification or equivalent Jira Cloud administration experience.
  • Experience integrating Jira or ServiceNow with AWS, Snowflake, Active Directory, identity services, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Experience with application onboarding, access management, service-request automation, CMDB, application lifecycle management, or decommissioning.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps practices, or controlled promotion of ServiceNow update sets.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices, including request, incidents, problem, change, release, configuration, and knowledge management.
  • Experience supporting scientific, research, engineering, regulated, or data-intensive environments.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
